Well, it's more like Peter shows me how innefective I am at the game...

But if your interested, it's at redhotpawn.com.

My name is Ghoti.
:lol:

We both make mistakes ... Balon just misses more than I ... so far.

BUT he is impoving with every game. I do not doubt that soon he will be able to give me the same beating in CHESS he gave to Jenn in Scrabble!

And in chess ... I am, of course, Creator!!

:::shaking head:::

I am barely better in chess than I am in Scrabble. At least, I know how the pieces move (I think? It's been a long time since I played).

Fortunately, Gabriel Schwartzman attends religious services at the Lubavitch Center Beorn and I attend, and since we generally are not allowed things that use electricity when we are celebrating a holiday or Shabbes, the game boards come out after services. Beorn likes taking Gabriel on, who usually indulges him in one game and whoops the pants off him each time.

But, Beorn vocally stims while processing his moves by talking about all of his options outloud to his competitor. This drive Gabriel crazy, which is why he limits playing Beorn to one game.

So maybe, an online game where his competitor won't hear his stimming would be a good way for him to improve his game. He can't compete in the local school tournaments for the same reason. Everyone hears all of his options, and he's beaten everytime because of it...

Now, does anyone play backgammon? Again, I haven't played in years, and don't even remember the board set up, but I think I could improve quickly in that game if there's a place to play.

Luci, I could teach you what little I know in person in NM, if someone brings a board? Then you won't feel intimidated by being taught by someone way better than a beginner.

I learned how to play years ago, but would consider myself a novice still. I can't plan strategy ahead for the life of me.

I used to play chess. However, I gave up my dream of being the next Bobby Fischer at about age 12. :D

the deal is this:

when i was a kid i wanted to play. my dad tried to teach me but he kept gettin p.o'd at me for not remembering the moves. i was eight.

he scared me. made me think i wasn't smart enough. he didn't mean to, but he did.

i didn't learn to play until i was in my late thirties when Ger, the mate, taught me inside an hour. we played three games. i beat him on the third.

i've never wanted to play again.

but Creator's been after me to learn.
ya never know. that was sweeeeeet beating Ger! :twisted:
he said i won cause i was "novicely aggressive"!! :lol:

Oh, that was a great story!

You'll probably beat the pants off me then!

I can't plan strategy for the life of me; I strictly know the moves and literally think about the play at hand only...

Hmmm...

So...

I decided to go to the start of the thread and see how all of this began. There I saw the link Creator posted. Even though Yahoo Messenger won't download on my friggin dial up, I can get to the log in page for Literati.

If anyone should PM me when they are in one of the Lounges, I would love to come and observe the game play for awhile...

:::desperately propping eyelids open:::

Heh.

Don't let the time on that post fool you. The last game wrapped up around 2:00 am eastern (says the old stick in the mud who is generally asleep by 10:30 pm eastern...)

I had every intention of sleeping in today. But, Paul had to be at work at 7:00, so I have now been up since 5:30, as I can't get back to sleep.

:::promised this during the last game:::

Creator=Red Baron
Menolly=Snoopy on the Sopwith Camel

:::Snoopy shaking fist at sky:::

"Curse you, Red Baron!! Arrrgh!!!"

But...I had a blast. I will return, if only to hang out and watch. But, I think I see a desperate search for my old high school dictionary soon in my future.

However, I must get to sleep at a reasonable time tonight, as I have lost my freaking mind and volunteered to drive and be the lone chaperone of six 8th grade boys tomorrow from the youth group at the shul to a water park in Tampa tomorrow. (dAN has PM'd me his cell number, in case I get lost). I have to be at the shul with Beorn, ready to go, at 9:00 am. We head back to Gator Town at 6:00 pm, most likely arriving back at the shul around 8:00-8:30 pm. There's no way I'll be able to stay up past 11:00 pm tonight. No matter how convincing the master manipulator is...
