Vietnam tv show I can't remember it's name

Post by Phantasm »

Ok, it's a drama about a bunch of soldiers in Vietnam from the early nineties (maybe late 80's)

The theme tune was "Paint it black" by the Rolling Stones.

That's about it folks ( oh, and it was on really late here in the UK)

Anyone help?

Sounds like ''Tour of Duty'' ?
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

Full of the heavens and time.

Tour of Duty or China Beach.

China Beach's theme song was "Reflections" by the Supremes.

I can picture the helicopters flying on T.V. while "Paint It Black" is playing, but I thought it was China Beach also.

I saw just a few episodes of one Vietnam show that focused on the personal lives of the soldiers and their familes.

All I remember is that their was one storyline where a soldier got a lot of shit from his platoon-mates about falling for a Vietnamese waitress when they were out getting shit-faced. And that the scenes involving his teenaged younger siblings back home in the US were done, IMHO, quite well.

Somewhat gritty, but fairly Hollywood as well...

I think the show got cancelled fairly quickly. It was of late '90s vintage if I wasn't mistaken. Two-word name. Some two-word name akin to "American Beauty" (although obviously that wasn't it).

Any thoughts?
