Menolly, presumably the only reason that Xar would have to make this rule change at this time is if someone, this turn, has done exactly what the rule change would prevent. I have a good idea who that someone will be; Nor appears to have his own suspicions.

It's not really a rule change as much as a way to avoid the exploitation of a heretofore unaddressed loophole. Without this clarification, a group of deities could simply bestow dozens of DRPs upon a newbie deity during his first turn and have him attack another powerful deity, hiding behind the "newbie shield" so that the vessel of the attack could not be retaliated against. Since this is obviously an exploit of the newbie protection, I decided to take steps to prevent it. Given the tense situation, and the fact that at least three deities are currently still enjoying newbie protection (O-gon-cho, Astavyastataa Kadna and The Fallen), I wouldn't want anyone to exploit this potential loophole.

Said rule change by the AllFather implies some pretty heavy stuff...?
not necessarily.

just means that he found a loophole due to activity in the game.

he's clarifying.

it's not a "change" in the rules, it's a clarification that has not, heretofore in gameplay, needed clarification.

it makes total sense to clarify that point at this point in the game.

i just love to quote myself.

Well, I always thought that the rule meant this anyways. If a newbie attacked another god during that grace period, the newbie is then open for attack. The safe period no longer applies. I thought that was what was talked about a couple of pages ago.

:::stepping in dragging my Player out of the thread:::

:::going back to rocking back and forth and keening:::

ImageBrethren, my apologies for my player. There was a tragedy to one of the third year weyrlings, known as the 150, today. My player, in her attempt to record what happened, has again let her emotions get the best of her. It may take a few days, but I hope to be able to update you soon...Image

:::Menolly again for a quick comment:::

AllFather, you have created a monster.

I still don't like writing, but I now need an outlet of some sort for the pictures and situations of my dragons that pop into my head...

:::sigh:::

Whoa. Mennoly's multiple personalities are finially meeting in one place! ;)

A quick comment, though. If you're already halfway done, Xar, then I should tell everyone that if this turn is going fast, I'm going to need to deadline to be (at least) next weekend. This weekend and all next week is the Grand Opening for the theatre. I'm probably working every day this week, and most of next week.

Just so everyone knows. This'll also impede on responding to PM's. If you've got something that needs to be answered NOW, then label it "Super Important" in the subject line, and I'll squeeze it in before I fall unconsious on my bed.

Thanks guys and gals.

The Lord of Destruction and Chaos casts his mind out to the cosmic infinite ... probing reality ... the structure of ALL ... searching ... it is not here!!

He returns his focus to Eiran ... casts his mind around the world ..... it is not there!!

ARRGGGG ... the FRUSTRATION ... he enlists Pantheon gods who search as well ... opening their own defensive shields to look ...

but the elusive TURN 19 results are no where to be found!!!! :P :twisted: ;)

Not that I am rushing anyone!! :lol:

Only five gods left before Turn 19 is finished. I'm sure you all want something to whet your appetite, so here's a sample of what's happened:

-The Fallen returns, and another god ascends;
-It seems that when worshipers of different gods meet, a few problems ALWAYS arise;
-A god finds out that hiding his own people sometimes isn't the best course of action to keep them out of harm's way;
-A few gods start testing each other's power;
-Some gods find out that triple-crossing works beautifully;
-A god accidentally does a bad, bad thing;
-A Prophet is slain.

And I've still one-third of the way to go!

I'm willing to be that two of those are me. Two bad ones, of course. :D But I won't say which, because, if they're not, it might give you ideas of how such a thing could be applied to me.
I am the self-fulfilling prophecy. Give love, and you WILL receive love. Let your every answer, your every action and reaction, your every desire, be rooted in love.

I wouldn't, if I were you...

Oh, and surprisingly enough, none of those things is part of Bhakti's turn! :P

By the way, people, vote for the contest... only three days left, and I only received five votes so far, which is only about half the number of players! :P

If anyone's still up and around, I suggest checking for emails in 5-10 minutes... there might be a little present in the mailbox :biggrin:
