Malik, I caught that bit of irony...of buffoonery...myself...Lucas calling anyone out for silliness is downright laughable.

Just watched Spidey 3 again. It grew on me a bit, though I thought the pacing could've used some fine-tuning. In any case, what it handled well it handled damned freaking well. I loved Sandman--any effects involving him.

Venom could've been done better. As a Spider-Man neophyte, the film never made it explicit just what extra powers/enhancements the black suit gave Peter.

And emo Pete. Man. I get it, he's evil. The eyeliner and the hair. Yay!

Spider Man 3 is a confusing mix of awesome and sucky. Half of me wants to really like it, but the other half keeps reminding me of how cheesy and poorly done some of the film was. Honestly, they should have stopped at Spider Man 2, the awesomeness of that film set any future Spider Man sequels up to be disappointments.

Opinions are great. You can have and give them and its all based on your own personal perspective and tastes. I just got back from watching Spiderman 3. I'm not in the "It was the best film ever!" camp but I also not in the "It sucked" camp. I liked it. IMHO the production and characters are remarkably consistent. To me all three SM films together create a very good story/event without losing much in the process. My only gripe with SM3 is that I didn't much care for the singing voice they used for MJ. I'm a long long long time SM fan and Bryce Dallas Howard is as close to what I always pictured Gwen Stacy to be like in real life as I imagine you can get. Crap. Here I go. I'm going to wrap up by repeating that I've enjoyed all three SM films and wouldn't be too much against seeing more.
If you happen to completely disagree with me like ol' Sunbaneglasses up there above me then I forgive you. That's why were like snowflakes. No two the same.

I did enjoy it, it just thought Spiderman 2 was much, much better. I believe it would have been a better film if they had went with just the Venom/Eddie Brock story coupled with the Harry Osborn angle while leaving The Sandman out of the story.

Venom's slinging around (didn't think he could do that, black goo or not, btw) and gets clobbered by the Sandman. Says, 'I've been looking for you... Your daughter...' Yada yada yada. How would he know?
I can field this one. In the comic, Spidey made mechanical web-shooters, using his science genius prowess. When he merged with the symbiote, however, it was able to mimic the webshooters organically; IIRC, it could make itself look like plain clothes too. Also, as an intelligent lifeform that spend all of it's time on Peter, it knew all of his secrets, and shared them with Eddie Brock after Pete removed in in the church bell tower, a scene the movie recreated very accurately from Web of Spiderman #1. Anyway, Eddie took his time spooking MJ and finally attacking Pete in the comic, but like I already said, the movies have to 'up' the pace quite a bit as there'll only be a few of them, as opposed to thousands of issues of the comic.

Loved the movie, BTW. I think I'll go see it again monday to catch what I missed dou to the kids needing bathroom breaks.

It felt pretty average to me. I do have to admit my favorite scene was

the dance number at the Jazz club. Call it cheesy, but it was the most entertaining scene of the movie for me.
I think I enjoyed the second movie the most. I guess because I like the whole "make it personal" thing more than the action sequences. There were a few good ones in this though.

finally saw it.
7.5 / 10

I think my biggest complaint was that in many parts it had a feel of "trying too hard"...
i will call it the "Linger & Swell" syndrome, where a movie will allow the camera to linger on a dramatic moment a little too long and allow the music to swell --- just to let you know that it was a "Dramatic Moment". There were too many.

As others have said, keeping in mind this is a movie and not a 50 issue comic run, they did a good job at handling Venom and Sandman, and the Goblin arch was well handled. (I'm so in love with Kirsten! --- she may not be the comic book MJ, but DAMN she's hot!)

The action was great. They have done a great job at handling how action --- fast action --- is filmed/viewed in a manner that allows you to see what is going on and not get a headache (are you listening Mr. Greengrass?!). Spidy on the screen moves almost a good as I imagine him in the comics. Good job.

Some "forced" scenes:
Aunt May visiting Peter at his place ... just seemed badly constructed.
And the death scene of Harry was overly done.

I love the notion of the black costume augenting a person's potential evil. For Brock, he became a true monster! In appearance and action.
For Parker, he became rude ... pretty much it. OK, he did throw the bomb back a Harry (ooo, so cool/bad) and the manner at which he chose to get back at MJ was also cool in a bad way ... but that it the extent of evil in Peter.... well handled even if to some it felt cheesy.

overall, a good 3rd movie, and although I loved the ending (in the club .. wonderfully subtle) it didn't feel like a good ending to the trilogy ...
yahyahyah, I know many are talking of more....

Saw it on sunday evening. I'd say that most of the film was good, it justdidn't all belong together in the same film. The Eddie Brock story arc was done well, I think; Sandman seemed a little forced, didn't sit well with the other stuff going on. The film didn't seem to have much of a coherent structure, just rolling along event after event, it was a bit messy. Still, at least it was far better than the third X-men film.
