Great. Now I'm going to have to live with the fact that I thought all Asian girls were hot. It must be all the sites I visit that led me to that conclusion.....
Dandelion don't tell no lies
Dandelion will make you wise
Tell me if she laughs or cries
Blow away dandelion
I'm afraid there's no denying
I'm just a dandelion
a fate I don't deserve.

NO
1973 - 1983
1984 - 1997
In 1973 No came into being through fate more than desire. Jack Tinley – Guitar, Bell Dickerson –Bass, Tolley Stewart – Keyboards and Jacklee Johnson – Drums were all inmates at the minimum security lockup in Marshall, Arkansas. All had been incarcerated on drug possession charges but it could not have been said that any of these music pioneers had been guilty of being ordinary.
Though no one remembers exactly how their association began, what is clear is that once released from prison, the founding members of No immediately embarked on the musical journey that went on to produce the songs we all know and love. Take it Out So I’ll bleed, Marsha’s Mad March, Stick to Me Honey Sweet, Told You I’d Die, Pain and Pimples, Color My Thoughts with Knots and their 1976 hit We’re Not Yes.
Jack and Tolley had originally wanted the band's name to be ASSGASKET but in an unexpected display of conherent thought, Bell interceded, screaming his name choice over and over again until Jack and Tolley finally agreed.
Jack Tinley once commented that No was a band that seemed to vomit music without effort, as natural as "taking a crap". In a March 1975 interview Jack told Guitar Monkey magazine that his approach to playing guitar was inspired by the chariot race from the Charlton Heston movie Ben Hur. He wanted to play guitar until the audience was left broken and bleeding, gasping for breath with broken ribs and crushed organs. Bell Dickerson would probably have described his bass playing as “brofetic” if he’d been able to speak at all. Tolley Stewart’s piano playing was once described by then former president Richard Nixon as “dark, so dark it’s stark”. Jacklee “Thimble” Johnson went to his grave proclaiming that he’d never played drums in his life and didn’t know what the hell people were talking about.
No has won a place in all of our hearts and minds as the most innovative and confusing band in music history. Thank God for NO. I still find it a bit odd that NO has never found its way on to compact disc after all these years. Thankfully the NO faithful are typically the ones that still own turntables and 8-track tape players.

Who's the mod of this forum? I suspect there is some power manipulation going on. Dan, right?
I guess Dan spelled backwards is dAN.

I loved NO in the 70's. 'Delayor', 'Going For The None', and "Far From The Middle" are my favorite NO albums. I think they went downhill in the 80's when they replaced Jack Tinley with Treblor Rabid and put out the crappy '20195' and 'Little Generalator' albums. The 90's ushered in a return to greatness with such gems as 'Keyboard To Ascension'. That Bell Dickerson was quoted as saying "NNNNGHHH" when asked about how he got his unique bass tone on that album, which sounds like a heard of cattle stampeding through a field of wet noodles soaked in gelatin.
The ONLY way to listen to NO is on reel-to-reel, baby!aTOMiC wrote: I still find it a bit odd that NO has never found its way on to compact disc after all these years. Thankfully the NO faithful are typically the ones that still own turntables and 8-track tape players.

Man that is by far my favorite album. Nearly all of the tracks on my LP have horrendous skips that only add to the texture of each track. The term ROCK isn't big enough to describe the kind of sonic ecstasy that NO was able to produce. If my turntable wasn't broken I'd run home right now and get freaked out all over again.
