Ooohhh, I can feel your pain there dAN. I thought like that once upon a time.
Had to change my mind, as I like the taste of wedding cake too much

Oh, just convince friends to marry. It's a lot cheaper.

Oh Lore, I am sorry! Any idea what set it off so you can avoid it?
I have no idea.
Oh man...

Bee sting? Spider bite? Did you eat something new?

No fun. That would worry me to death if I had such a reaction and had no idea why.

OMG, I have bought HORSES for less money than that!!! You are nuts, my friend.

Sorry to hear about the allergic reaction, Lore. That sounds pretty scary. Glad you're over it with little trouble.

I am allergic to mango. But so far only raw against my skin. I seem to have no problems with jarred magno chopped into salad by someone else.

Please be cautious if you have mango again, K?

The last three guys I know who proposed all dropped more than $10k on the ring.

It is sharp looking.

Engagement rings are funny things. They seem to be more for showing off than as any sort of symbol of love.

I had a conversation with a woman a few months ago that said she wouldn't accept an engagement ring that cost less than 8 large, more if the guy had money.

Needless to say, I found this laughable and pretty much ended any chance I might have had with her.

I'm going to skip the whole thing and either make the engagement ring or have it made. Either way it'll be with a stone that I hounded myself. That way the cost stays low, and she wont care because it's more meaningfull that one I bought.

At least, I HOPE that'll be how it goes.

If some guy is willing to drop 8-10K on a stupid ring I would be quick to tell him that I would much rather have an engagement boston whaler. Much more fun and much more useful.

OH HELLS YES! :P My Dad shelled out FAT bank for my stepmom's rings and he joked about her wearing his fishing boat on her finger, well screw that, I would rather have the boat. What says I love you better? A cold impersonal piece of jewelry or "Hey baby! Let's go spend some quality time on the water, you, me, some stinky bait and the whims of nature?"
