There's nothing wrong with thinking the joke was in poor taste. That's perfectly alright. The only point I was trying to make is that, even if you didn't like the joke, it was none-the-less just a joke. No one got hurt. So theres no reason for people to get worked up.-jayDromond wrote:I think the joke was in poor taste and I refuse to feel like the bad guy for thinking so.

LOL F&F, yep we heard you the first time
Ok, I was trying to find out the other day when daylight savings ended in the USA, was in chat with a few others, and rather than annoy them by asking "you in the USA? you in the USA? you in the USA?" I went to the profile of these folks to see where they were from.
Tuvor's was a surprise, he had heaps of horsies and so-on, and he was still in chat asking for ideas on how he could get rid of more of his money.
Anyway, I commented on his prolific itinerary, and suggested seeing as he had all that money, he should buy the lot and give folks a bit of a fright when they go browsing and see that nothing's available. I believe I mentioned Vain as the main intended recipient, as he's the one who seems to manage the shop.
Tuvor duly buys everything up, and a knock off for the evening.
Next day I see his shop thread, and ... well what can I say, the responses are many and varied. I finish a busy day and am hardly near the PC for the weekend, and now I find that the guy got an abusive PM for crying out loud!
A few points need clearing up.
As shown above, it was I that led Tuvor down the path of temptation.
Yep, it was a joke, certainly the materials would be returned.
It's ... umm ... how do I put this ... well the shop items actually aren't real. its a fantasy world. Remind me not ever to partake in an online trivia comp with a few of you guys
Also, technically, Tuvor had full right to buy all the materials he wanted. He had the money. There's no rule against it. In fact, he himself knew that he felt compelled to do this only as a temporary joke, and not, as was his right, howevere gluttonous, in a sense of permanence. So its a bit rich to accuse him of being selfish!
That's my take on it anyway. If you don't like it, and wish to say so, you probably need to tell me, because it was my suggestion.

I visited here the other day but prior to wiping my hard drive i was having comp probs
lol and i wasnt able to post ..
but firstly .. this is an example of a huge waste of time .. and folks getting bent out of shape over something incredibly petty.
I fully support what Jay has said .. and whether you like the "joke" or not .. Landwaster made an excellent point.
and .. mmm .. you know our WAtch economy .. wouldnt even be damaged by it one whit
.. lol .. and thats cos .. the more Vain or Jay put in the store .. the more that will just be available for purchase ..
i'm struggling to see what some are getting cranky over
Secondly, I think it bares remembering or even realising .. that Tuvor is only 17 .. and a really good kid .. So he pulled a way out stunt .. he did so with every intention of returning his "legitimately" purchased booty.
So does this mean if someone has got bags of money .. they arent allowed to spend it how they want ..
Is anyone selfish for purchasing what they have? Hell no!
.. the wgd's are just token monopoly money .. they're just about having a bit of fun .. there arent no sheep stations at stake .. and no one is gonna sue you .. or the bank for that matter
for usury
definately some chill time isnt such bad advice
we could all benefit from a bit of a "reality check" .. and lightening up ..
I hardly think this joke was in bad taste .. it was a joke .. and at the end of the day it was still a joke ..
they aint any need to get our panties in a bunch .. or our nickers in a knot .. over something so small and meaningless ..
yes cos in the real world .. its actually meaningless
How we react to such stimulus however .. isnt so meaningless
Are we not bigger than all this? I think if Donaldson gave us a surprise visit now .. I wonder what he would be thinking of a 3 page thread injected with criticism .. over an arugably silly joke by a 17 year old kid ..
I wager he'd see the irony

Hey, give him a break! He was only joking, and he did have the right to, if he had the money, buy the shop. If you don't stop picking at him about this, he'll leave, and you'll miss him, whether you think you will or not.
And, seeing as Tuvor is really just a kid, he prolly thought it was a neat joke to play. Just leave him alone.
All this fighting is hurtful; I know, I've fought with enough of you. *cough danlo cough lord foul cough* It hurts all parties involved. It makes KW look inhabitable to any other people that come along. You know what that means, no new blood. No new blood, no new pov's. No new pov's, KW dies!
You're killing the Watch with all the fighting! Geez Louise, even my friends said they didn't want to come here, cuz of all the bickering. You're disrupting business!
Just stop with all the Tuvor-bashing and name-calling, ok? It makes me sick to see two perfectly good people at odds.

Now I'm getting confused over all this. Other than 1 person PMing Tuvor with some hateful ? (I'd like to read it first) stuff, I just think the people who didn't like it was saying so. Go back and read the pages! They're harmless! Sky, you write as though people's knickers are in a bunch; other than (maybe) 1 person, It's not that big a deal! I said I thought it was in poor taste and I do,I'm quite ready to get over it. Let's just agree to disagree on our thoughts on the matter.
