Oh for f***s sake. I just had a heated debate with a coworker about science and spirituality. It just ended with her calling me 'narrow minded' all because I stated that to make a claim or theory, it helps if you have evidence to support it. And she pulled the classic technique new agers use to escape that logic by stating "why do you need proof? some things you just innately know or understand." It's like they have some circular reasoning they fool themselves with. And the worse thing is, I'm now seen as the person who wants to ruin everyone's magical fantasy.

LOL! Well, I've got silky smooth armpits (amongst other parts of me), and I'm no millionaire (in fact we're broke). And I'm not siding against you Lore; but, well, I do believe that some things just are, that there is magic in the world. Sure, this belief hasn't solved my money problems...and I still have to wax on a regular basis...but I'm happy to take the little bit of magic in my life (the stuff that I can't really explain, the stuff that I don't really understand which kinda makes it impossible to explain it to anyone else).

In the end, it all comes down to people striving to understand their lives and how they fit into the big picture. I say "what ever works for you".

Im feeling a little confused, and a LOT good.

First the good.

I was at my favorite used book shop today, picking out some more reading material, when I was alerted to a hold that I put on a few days ago, and had completely forgoten about; The Real Story. So, now I can join to full status!

Now the confused. I got hit on at work by a chick that I barely know and I'm not sure how to react. If I DO go with it, I know I wont be with her for the rest of my life, so I risk complications at work. Plus, shes not my type. But she IS really nice, and I would feel bad to let her down hard. Any advice from a female perspective?

I didn't explain myself. Sorry. My argument at work was not that 'x is not real', just that if you think 'z causes x, please show me why.' For instance, someone referenced a haunted castle in Ireland. My response was "what makes you think ghosts are there? Could it not be the history of the place priming your mind to interpret sensations as the result of paranormal events?". I dont want to dismiss everything, but what I do want is the reason - rational and empirical - for a belief/theory. Otherwise it's just pseudoscience or fantasy.

7:00 AM as I type this; just woke up. I've got an appointment with the doc at 10:00. I think he's going to be surprised at how much I've improved, as my weight's currently at 150.

In any case, I'm feeling very confident about my health and the future. I'm worrying about things a lot less. I used to fear that I couldn't fall asleep, but now I've been getting a full night's rest.

I feel I'm starting to enjoy my summer. There's plenty of reading, eating, laziness, and a little exercise to boot! Also: I've started two new stories. I'm a little rusty, but that's to be expected after not writing for so long. I think the routine of school was a major comfort-zone for me, and the loss of that really threw me for a loop.

I guess I am a bit of a nerd for school. Heck--I won my college's "Love of Learning" certificate! That's how lame I am!

My advice? Tread softly, Balon. Are there rules at the theater regarding co-workers dating? If not, are y'all on par with each in the work hierarchy? Or if things do eventually go sour, could one of you make life more difficult on the job for the other?

If the answers to these questions are no, yes, no, I say go for it. Of course, IMO, your first step is to drop the "chick" attitude...

Perhaps it will mellow Adomorn out a little.
