Because it doesn't make for fun game.Simjen wrote:Despite this, good is still stronger than evil. Afterall, we don't live in a society where murder, rape, and theft are the norm. Why? Because eventually good bands together against that which is harmful. Collectively, good is stronger.
Why should that be any different here?

To be honest, and I hate to sound rude, I don't think I can play these games any more. I don't know.Simjen wrote:Fun is in the eye of the beholder, I guess. So would my suggestion to Xar be something you approve of, then?

It does for me. I want to build a world!!! I want my little part of it to be my way, and I want that part to interact happily with the other parts. Even without evil, that's fun, and I can't imagine it would be particularly easy to achieve. When evil tries to prevent my dream, and is finally defeated (although not destroyed entirely), achieving that dream is that much sweeter. That is most definitely fun!Loremaster wrote:Because it doesn't make for fun game.
And, ah, this is a beautiful thing!!!

I think the main point that all these posts point to, is that we each all play the game differently. Some of us (like me) play this game for the game itself. To be able to read it like a story, and change it as you go along. IE) with no real "win" or "lose" in mind.
Some of use play to win, or play to lose, and that is equally fine. As long as there is no one making fun of another for "losing" that mentality is just as valid as mine is.
Also some of us play the Player as the Character, and some of use (like me) play them as separate entities. These, again, are both equally valid. the only aspect of these different style of gamep lay that needs to be ruled upon is whether or not OOC information can carry on over into IC. That is called Metagaming. Out of habit, I haven't used OOC information at all. Sure, I might here some rumors, or someones plan, but I dont include that information into my turns. It's up to Xar (as the GM) to decide whether or not what we say OOC needs to be taken as valid IC information.
All in all, I think these differences are what make this game great. We all bring something different to the table. And just so you all know, I didnt really have a POINT to this post, I just wanted to speak my mind.

Well said Xar. It's a game, and everybody is responsible only for their own decisions. We're playing folks.
I don't hold it against Murrin or Argothoth for playing to win...somebodies gotta. I do my best, all though winning per se isn't my motivation. I play for the fun of it, come what may. As Kipling said, "...meet with triumph and disaster, and treat those two imposters both the same..."
As for getting advice from you Xar, we didn't want any of it getting out. For obvious reasons. And now there's 6 months worth of planning down the drain.
This is truly what makes Pantheon such a great game. The freeform nature of it. We can literally do what we want. Nobody broke any rules, we just played to the best of our abilities according to our goals and expectations.
And personally, I treat every player as their character. I don't believe there's a person on earth who can completely prevent meta-knowledge from creeping in, so I'd rather not provide them with any.
[edit] Oh, people keep saying if Lore quits. I think he's been pretty clear he's quit, and I think we should respect that decision even though we wish he hadn't. However, Xar, I would like an official ruling on the status of Nor Yekith. So we can plan our next moves.[/edit]

No, for the next game. But I agree wholeheartedly.Astavyastataa Kadna wrote:You're gonna take out Simjen's WIFE!!Fist and Faith wrote:I'm also gonna suggest no more NPC deities.

After all the ideas that were scrapped, Operation: Yekmeister was finally going to happen!

Lore, that's what I sent you the PM about, but since you say you didn't receive it, I'll post it here: I would like to know (privately, if you prefer) whether you would at least give Nor Yekith a great sendoff, which I think he deserves at least, or if you just wish for him to disappear in a quiet "poof!" and leave everything as it is now.Vadhaka wrote:[edit] Oh, people keep saying if Lore quits. Obviously, from a GM's point of view I would appreciate if, having decided not to play Nor anymore, you would at least let him go out in style (making my life much easier when I have to decide what happens next, incidentally); please let me know as soon as possible what your intentions regarding Nor's exit are.
I see your point, but you DO realize that since I know more about each player's plans and ideas than any one of you, I'm in a good position to make sure that if you act, you act without using out-of-character knowledge... truly, this lack of confidence astounds me!Vadhaka wrote:As for getting advice from you Xar, we didn't want any of it getting out.
