I beg to differ on Shattered and Avenging Angel---Shattered ROCKS, Berenger rips it up, and is one of my all-time favorite movies (one of the 2 or 3 rare movies that actually allow you to see how well Greta Sharhci (sp) can act)--Bob Hoskins, once again, a Tour de Force.
The Substitute, At Play in the Fields of the Lord and Sniper are really good flicks in their own rights.

Wow, I didn't actually read any of the write-ups, but I agree with most of the picks (except Terminator and The Searchers). I thought Scarface was a total piece of crap. I loved The Usual Suspects when I first saw it. It's the only movie I ever rented that I re-watched in its entirety right after seeing it the first time. That was maybe 10 or 12 years ago. But then I watched it maybe a year or two ago, and it really didn't do a whole lot for me. I don't find it very re-watchable at all. Once you know the gimmick, and you've done a re-watch to see all the clues you missed, the movie is actually pretty empty imo.

That's probably true; I only watched it once, and liked it, but I also could see the big reveal coming. I think M Night What-his-name is probably the most overrated director ever. All the other movies of his that I've seen have been turd-fests.
That's the problem with films that rely on a twist. The ending is important, but so are the other two hours before it.

Well, except for Ace Ventura. It ended with a twist (when Sean Young turned around to show off her back-package), and I can watch that flick over and over again.
Roach trotted over to sniff at the gleaming phlegm, then licked it up.
Unbreakable was interesting. I really need to watch it again.

I never like these lists. Can't agree with the bit about The Terminator or The Shining. I used to read a lot of Stephen King, and I still liked the movie. They definitely got Billy Madison right, though -- it's one of the most god-awful movies I've ever seen, and I didn't even know it was considered a "guy movie." I also can't bash on The Exorcist, because it accomplished something that no other movie has: It's the only film that's ever scared me. Granted, I was very young when I saw it, but when I watch it now, I can at least remember why it disturbed me so much. And again, how is this a guy movie?
And Scarface. I must confess. I love that movie. That might be because I had a crazy friend who reminded me a lot of Tony. Haven't seen him since I was 18. (Wouldn't be surprised if he's dead, actually...) But he was interesting to be around (for a while).
