Got the new Babylon 5 Direct to DVD Disc yesterday. It's got two short stories on it:
The First one, with Lochley was pretty decent, I enjoyed it. It's kinda like an episode of the Haunting. (About 30 minutes long)
The Second story has Sheridan and Galen and a new Centauri character, and is really good (About 37 minutes long) in typical B5 fashion. Also guest starring Teryl Rothery (Dr. Janet Frasier from Stargate SG-1) as a reporter
There is a memorial for both Richard Biggs and Andreas Katsulas, which were very touching.
A really nice addition to the Babylon 5 universe, and hopefully the first of many to come (Maintained within the top 10 sellers at Amazon.com through alot of it's pre-sale period and at #6 now that it was released yesterday)

The first story, hasn't been well received, even people who didn't hate it don't think it fits the B5 universe. But, I thought it was an interesting story. Also Lochley isn't as young as she was 5 years, so, she doesn't have that Capt. Cupcake appeal anymore, and many people never got accustomed to her character (I actually think she is channeling Capt Gideon from Crusade in this story, to be honest). Cail, the issue some seem to have with the first episode, is that Aetheists seem to believe the episode confirmed the existence of God, I thought it did quite the opposite and it should be the Fundamentalist Fire and Brimstone Whack jobs should be upset, because the episode left the possibility that God might be just an alien that a mythology was built around

Wow, I'm shocked anyone Aetheist would think the Lochley episode took the side of Religion. Looking at it through an Aetheistic prism, I thought the episode showed very clearly that God is not a certainty. The "Demon" never said the name God, the Priest did, and the "Demon" merely went with it. The Priest talked about how venturing into space has eroded faith in God. How come people can't see that Lorien (or any other big, bad ancient race) could be the roots behind the Faith of God.
Looking at it from through my own personal views of Faith (but, not belonging to an organized religion, and completely against "Fire and Brimstone" religion) it seems to me, it would be more likely that Fundamentalists would be upset at the fact the episode suggested that God could just be an Alien that a myth was built around, even the Priest himself, the way I read it was sturggling with his own Faith, and I didn't see that change, especially after Lochley gave the "demon" the slap down, and proved you don't have to be a Theologen to get the better of a "demon"
I thoroughly enjoyed the first episode, it was very Twilight-zone-ish or like an episode of the Haunting. There is every reason to believe, in my mind that JMS was slyly slamming religion and showing it is just mythology created by someone who didn't comprehend an Alien visitation (and the prior history we have with the Vorlons appearing as Aliens to manipulate us, proves that point to me)

I've discovered another complaint amongst people who weren't satisfied.
Apparently many people didn't understand this new "Series" (hopefully more will be made) is an anthology of short stories, that are one offs. Apparently many people were expecting some big movie (LIke In The Beginning) that was gonna kick off a big new arc? Not sure where they got that impression, but, I suppose if I didn't know so intimately from being so exposed to the information that it was short stories, perhaps I would've expected the same thing.
