LXG! What about LG?
LXG may be a good film, but it is not a patch on the wonderful series "The League of Gentlemen" this series rocks, it's the best!!!
I understand that probably only UK members have heard of it, but anyone that hasn't I strongly recomend finding it!!!!
(But maybe because of the style of humor, only a certain type of people would find it funny)

Haven't seen the flick, but read the graphic novel--which was great! And yeah, the "in-jokes" were lovely. I especially liked the detail of the group portrait of an earlier such league--The Scarecrow, an elderly gentleman named Gulliver, Moll Flanders, the Scarlet Pimpernel, etc.

I understand that the movie is a horrific butchering, Hollywood-style, of the comic. I've neither seen the movie nor read the comic, but I'll try to read the comic first.
Hollywood adaptations of comic books rarely work well, with the possible exception of superhero comics (Spiderman and the X-men films come to mind). From Hell was visually gorgeous, but had almost nothing to do with the terrific graphic novel it was based on.
And don't forget the upcoming Hellblazer movie, with an American John Constantine apparently to be played by Keanu Reeves...

You misunderstand me, I'm not talking about any leagues with the word "extraordinary" in it, film, comic or otherwise. I'm talking about the TV series "the league of gentlemen" (this doesn't make them ordinary though). It is a very very very very funny programme. Have any of you heard of it? It's twisted humor is the best!

The League of Gentlemen rocks! I think it has to be the single most screwed up comedy I've ever seen. The first Papalazarou episode scored quite highly in C4s 100 Scariest Moments recently. I was impressed with the way they managed to keep the third series fresh by making it all happen at the same point in time, and Lawrence Llewellyn-Bowen was great! I think the episodes in series 2 where Pauline holods Ross and Mickey hostage are my favourites.
