HAHAHAHA.
Worst thing you could have done there, Prebe.
As for me? I managed to squeeze in a bunch of extra hours tonight. Talked Empires stradegy with a friend of mine at work who is also playing, and hitched a ride home. A good, lazy day.

Wadds! Good to hear from you! Stop and take a breath once in awhile, okay?
It's Monday here. Not quite as icky-sticky as yesterday, but it promises to heat up again later in the week, oh goody gumdrops. Spent the weekend shopping (tax-free!) for stuff for the girls to take to college with 'em. Yep, back-to-school time is right around the corner.

I had a life-changing experience yesterday, and I'm still committed to it today. I watched the highlights of the Ironman Triathlon in Kona, HI yesterday, and I had an epiphany.
I must finish that race. Swim 2.4 miles in open water, bike 112 miles, run 26.2 miles, and do it all in less than 17 hours. I can do it. I haven't run in years, but I'm a strong swimmer, and I'm currently biking 30-40 miles a day.
When I get back from vacation I'm going to start seriously training; join a pool, start running again, and totally revamp my diet.

Don't hold your breath. Kona is in October, and you either have to qualify for it or be chosen in a lottery. Best case, I could be there in 2008.
Other than surfing, I've never swam in open water before, and I've got to be able to complete 2.4 miles in 2 hours and 20 minutes. There's no way I can do this right now, but I don't see this as being insurmountable.
Other than the cost of a bike, the 112 mile ride should be a walk in the park. The cutoff time for the ride is 8 hours, which makes for 14 MPH. Piece of cake, as I'm averaging 16mph on my rides now, and that's on a mountain bike. With minimal training on a proper bike, I should be able to do the ride in 6 hours without too much difficulty.
But then there's the marathon. I've jogged a bit over the last few years (like a mile or two here and there), but that's it. I used to run competitively in high school, but that was 20+ years ago.
And then I've got to be able to do all three, one right after the other.
There are a few local events that are shorter (sprint TRIs, half-ironmans) that I'll tackle first, but looking at it realistically, if I can do the swim in 2 hours and the biking in 6 hours, that leaves me 9 hours for the marathon. So if I can manage 26 20-minute miles (a normal walking speed), I can finish it.
But of course, that's not what I want to do. I want to run the entire thing.

Wow! Best of luck Cail, although it sounds like you don't need luck so much since you have it all planned out! That's really cool. Keep us posted... Especially posted with the training pics of you in your training speedos....
Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....
I can train for the swim. I can train for the run.
I cannot fathom being seen in public in a banana hammock and tight cycling/running apparel. It's gonna be tough to run 26 miles with my hands hiding my crotch.

Due to peer pressure here at the Watch (hell, everyone's doing it, I must get on the bandwagon), I am a day and half in without a cigarette. Let's see how it goes. I'm all patched up right now, so I'm feeling fine, but I'm just fighting habits. Which is hardest part.
Now, after quitting smoking, it's probably time to give up heroin. And then crack, then coke, then pepsi, then diet pepsi, then pooping. But for now, just working off the cigarettes. I feel a little jittery and quick to anger, as well as sleep, but I think I'm doing okay.

There's another bandwagon you need to jump on, too. Here, make yourself an avatar out of this:
