Menolly, if you want to move this to GD feel free.
So, Friday I'm in Yerington, NV (hicksville) for my grandmother's funeral. We stop at McDonald's on the way out of town for a late lunch / early dinner. Go through the drive-thru. My brother's driving, my mom's sitting in the backseat, and I'm sitting shotgun. So on the way out of town, I hand everybody their food. I give my bro his quarterpounder, and he opens it up. It looks like there's a piece missing or something on the edge.
My brother says "What the hell is this?" and hands me the burger. I look at it. It has a bite taken out of it. One perfect bite - right through both buns, the cheese, the meat, and even a pickle. Not only that, but it looks old. The grease has congealed over the bite mark, everything's dried out.
So we turn around on the highway and go back. My brother and I go into McDonalds. He walks straight up to the counter and throws the burger down, yelling "What kind of establishment are you running here?"
The fairly young, Hispanic manager, whose eyes are now almost wider than her face, asks if there's a problem with out food.
"Yeah," my bro says. "Someone's eaten it before I did." We show her the partially eaten, dessicated quarterpounder, and she's flabbergasted. She starts yelling at the employees, though none of them are copping to it. I'm not sure how all the people in the store took it (personally, I would've returned what food I had left and demanded a refund), but one guy was rolling with laughter.
We ended up getting all our food remade fresh (my brother watched them prepare it), a full refund, and two apple pies (at my request, even though I don't really like the apple pies).
Good times.

"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Had too many, good and bad, for any particaulars to stand out.
However, as far as a one-in-my-lifetime experience (tho it lasted a few months), a local takeaway used to serve the most amazing mushy pea fritter. About as big as a tennis ball, you bit through batter to reveal - the only possible description is, Slimer from Ghostbusters neon-green. Really tasty too.

I think I'm the polar opposite of Syl's brother.
Once in a fancy seafood restaurant in town here, I ordered Shrimp risoto, and got baked Salmon...and I just ate the Salmon.
Once in Mcdonalds for Breakfast with the whole family, it was taking FOREVER, as there was only one cashier working, andit was lined up almost outside the door.
The Wife and kids were sitting down waiting, and after twenty minutes, I hadn't even reached the cashier to PLACE my order..Lis comes out, and asks me BY NAME what was taking so long...well that did it for the guy in front of me...he started ranting and raving to everyone in earshot...and then complaining to the manager; and using MY NAME!!!
"Me and my buddy Drew here have been waiting forever..."

My bro's not aggro or anything. There's just a big difference between bad customer service and endangering someone's life.
