Brisbane Writer's Festival

Post by Loredoctor »

The 11th Brisbane Writers Festival is on from 12-16 September and will host up to 300 writers from around the world and our own backyard. The driving theme for this year’s festival is how the globe directly impacts the written word and there’s a powerhouse of commanding voices to inspire everyone, including Palestinian al-Qa’ida expert, a British food-freedom fighter, a Canadian Chaucerian rapper, and a Swedish magician turned vampire-chaser.

Be inspired by renowned speculative fiction authors, storyboard artists and concept illustrators coming to town, including Kevin J Anderson (Dune series and the holder of the Guinness Book of Records record for biggest single booksigning ever!), Rebecca Moesta (Star Wars and Buffy), David Russell (Enchanters and exhibition of his storyboards), Emily Rodda (world launch of her new series The Key to Rondo), John Ajvide Lindqvist (Swedish vampires), Michael White (Equinox and Galileo Antichrist) along with Louise Cusack, Marianne de Pierres (with a new book and series, Dark Space), Kim Wilkins and Jason Nahrung.

Kevin J Anderson is also conducting two workshops as part of our workshop and masterclass program. A rare chance with one of the world's greats!

BWF moves to the State Library of Queensland this year, consolidating its profile as Queensland’s premier literary event. The edgy evening program continues at The Brisbane Powerhouse and features Star Wars, Manga, graphic novels, erotica, vampires, poetry slam-offs and the wonderfully unpredictable Chaser interviews.
