Unfortunately, no. You may be able to get it next day by paying more for shipping. FR doesn't rate on the same scale as Harry Potter.

I pre-ordered FR from Amazon two months ago. I have paperbacks of the first six books and never bought Runes. :hairs: But my plans are to buy ALL the books in hardback form; my old paperbacks have turned yellow and the covers have all fallen off (from being read 20 times each over the last 30 years). I have found a few places to get used hardbacks, but I would really love to have brand new ones. I recently checked Runes out from the library again to get me back up to speed for FR's release. And SRD's site has the first two complete chapters of FR posted there. I was stupid and found myself trapped into reading about 20 pages, had to slap myself to stop, and have had to ground myself. My birthday is October 14th and I always take a couple of vacation days right around that time every year. So guess what I'll be doing during that time? Wow what a birthday gift. Thanks, SRD, and you don't even know me!!! :bday: to me!!!
Heard my ears aright? Did not the gaddhi grant me this glaive?

A lot of people here are partial to the 1st Chronicles with the covers by Sweet, but I'm not sure if they were published in hardcover or not (can someone else say?). My favorite hardcover design goes to the Holt-Reinhart Winston editions of the 1st Chronicles (LFB's cover: www.sfsite.com/folklore/images/z0000204.jpg). Simple and elegant. That's why I'm getting the Last Chronicles from the UK, for the same sort of simplicity.

Good luck finding any hardcovers in brand new condition, though; the best (and only) copy I've found of WGW looks like it was stored in a puddle. Used book stores and library sales work if you're in a city that's big enough. Otherwise, try alibris or some place like that. Also, folks here at the Watch often keep an eye out for nice copies if they know someone is looking. :)

I savor anticipation. I'm not gonna wilt if I don't read FR on the first day it's out. Heck, I held onto Runes for two weeks before I read it, as I wanted to finish what I was currently reading. And then I read it nice and slow, a little bit each day, so that I could have plenty of time to ponder what I was reading.

Savor the savory savoriness of life, everyone!

31 over here - well, since I'm having it shipped from the UK, anyway.

Plus the unbearable shipping time.

And how on earth am I going to avoid the FR forum for 9+ days?

I can disable your access temporarily, if you like. Just let me know.

The Ravers make me do it, I swear. No, I'll grow a pair and start refusing to highlight spoiler boxes. But thanks for the offer.

(When this method fails, I will PM you.)

You will want to be removed the first time you click "View Posts since Last Visit" and the top topic is "I loved the part where <something you wish you didn't know>". You can't spoiler-hide subjects.

I thought we were going to continue to limit access until a set time after FR is published (say, for example, 30 days after publication).....to protect the "savorors." ;)

I wont be taking any chances with spoilers for FR. I'll just not logon to KW until I've read it.

I'm excited! Hell, I'm excited about re-reading Runes, as I've only read it once and I had a nasty flu that week at the end of 2004, so Runes is very much an illness induced haze in my memory. :)

AUGH! So near and yet so far! Maybe Amazon will take pity on me and ship my preordered copy early....

Man, I'm so glad I totally forgot about this book. It would've been torture, otherwise!

As much as I want to savor Fatal Revenant, I think it'd be fun to have an all-night reading marathon with it until 3 in the morning. Hopefully Revenant will up the ante and rectify the flaws I saw in Runes.

Well, this comes from a slightly biased source:
In the GI, Lord SRD hath wrote:On the other hand, I'm gratified that you enjoyed the GAP books. Taken as a whole, I still consider them my best work so far--although I believe that "Fatal Revenant" has raised the bar.
