Anybody been to Bubba Gump Shrimp Factory? I've gone five or six times now but always order the same dish, Shrimp New Orleans.
It's the sauce that makes it so delectable. It's shrimp sauteed in the usual way, but with cayenne so it's spicy, laid around a mound of jasmine rice and encircled by a generous moat of sauce which is savory and buttery and a little sweet complimenting the spicy shrimp.
I've asked watresses but get mixed answers. I went so far as to order the Bubba Gump Shrimp Factory Cookbook but alas, it turned out to be shrimp recipes from Sunset magazine and had none from the restaurant. Anybody had it? I think it's butter, shallots, Worcestireshire, maybe honey or sugar and possibly more.

BGB, I found a recipe for Shrimp New Orleans on recipelink, but it is from a NYC restaurant and a reviewer on the board says it is not the same as Bubba Gumps. Here is the recipe though. Perhaps you can tweak it and bring it closer to what you want.
Shrimp New Orleans
3/4 cup Creole (hot) or brown mustard
3/4 cup salad oil
1/2 cup vinegar
4 1/2 tbsp. ketchup
3 tbsp. finely chopped celery
3 tbsp. finely chopped green onion
3 tbsp. finely chopped green pepper
Few dashes hot pepper sauce (Tabasco)
Lemon juice (optional)
Worcestershire sauce (optional)
Horseradish (optional)
Mix ingredients together and serve over boiled shrimp on a bed of lettuce with a wedge of lemon. Refrigerate leftovers.
This is the same sauce server at Arnaud's Restaurant.
