I finished my re-read of Runes. I don't want to wait 8 days. I want Fatal Revenant NOW! (Holding my breath, drumming my heels)

Amazon is estimating I will get FR on Oct 17. That's based on standard-rate shipping, 3-5 business days. Still, that seems a bit lame.

Then again, I waited for three years so far... what's a few more days.

I don't know about pre-orders, but generally I receive my shipments way before Amazon's estimated delivery date. Whether that's just because they overestimate, or whether they do it on purpose so we'll think "hey, they got it here much quicker!" I don't know... ;-)

BTW, where do you live? Northeast? I'm in NC and they're saying between the 12th and 16th.

You're not even gonna read it when it arrives, Mr. "Savor the savoriness!" ;)

I'm in San Francisco and Amazon is estimating my FR arrival between the 16th and 18th.

Why aren't you people getting them in stores on the day they're released?? Surely places like Boston and SF have a B&N?

My thought also. I've got a copy reserved at Borders.

No real reason. I guess it's partly cause it's easier to just order it, and also it helps SRD if there are already more pre-sales.

Ok, the truth is: so I don't have to explain the wall-to-wall grin I'd have on my face if I bought it at B&N ;-)

This was the reason most people have - all pre-orders count as day of release sales, therefore increasing the chance that FR will be considered a best seller.

I did it to get 30% off. If I'd get thirty-percent off going to the store, then I'll feel really dumb. :) Until I remember that with my life, I might never get to the store. :(

I won't pre-order my copy, as here in Australia books are often available in bookstores a few days before their official Australian release date. This stems from the fact that we get the UK versions of books, so our release "date" often depends on just when the bookseller has received its books from the UK and has put them on the shelves.

So I'll be trawling the Melbourne bookshops daily from the UK release date, until I strike FR gold! :)
