Linden not verbal Sherlock Holmes

After reviewing the posts on FR's second chapter I was reminded of Esmer's reaction to Linden's reception of information about the Land's past. He, of course supplies the information in response to her questions, but she obviously does not get it. Neither did I. What it all seems to be connected to, however, is Linden's need to be the first to drink the Earthblood. There are then only two options: first in this time or the first ever. I'm thinking ever. That of course implies time travel.

Weren't we given to understand (in the trailer or from info on Amazon) that Linden would travel to the past seeking to reshape reality? Where did I get that? The Earthblood must be part of that reshaping, right?

It also appears that Linden will be hard pressed to come up with a connection between a Vile-history and the Earthblood. But what about us?

Lastly, in the Second Chronicles, Covenant is told by Mhoram something to the effect "It boots nothing to avoid his (Foul's) snares, for they are ever 'yada yada yada; something about plans inside of plots inside of plans, or something like that. So, how is Linden playing into Foul's hands? Is she still doing something unexpected as in RoE?

Just read this in the GI:

Michael from Santa Fe: OK, the cover art to "Fatal Revenant" has been up on Amazon.com for quite some time (at least the US cover). So, would I get an answer if I asked who the guy on the cover is, or is it just a generalizaton of a cool looking old wizard to give the cover a good "fantasy" look? I like it, although it is much different than all the other Chronicles covers, which makes sense since it was done by a new artist, but change is good.

From my perspective, this is a real lose/lose question. There is no answer that I could possibly give you that wouldn't be a spoiler of some kind. I'm afraid that you'll just have to RAFO.

Some thing occored to me while reading it.

Both Anele and Esmer talked ALOT about the ONe Forrest, and the Colosus and the FORESTALS.

Perhaps Gandalf on the cover is some sort of Forrestal of whever the Earthblood is now accesable....?

I agree...it always looked like Saruman to me. And, you're right believer. Saruman has a cameo in the book!

And in both covers he is drawn wrong. He is supposed to have a gnarled piece of wood as a staff, and also Caerroil Wildwood doesn't have eyes but rather white balls of light.
