Shadow of the Colossus
I thought I'd made this before, but I couldn't find it. Heh.
Anyway, I'm looking for a game that has the same feel. Open, with a simple plot line. I like the puzzle action games, and this one's pretty close to the peak of my all time favs.
Any suggestions?

The blue discs they used for the early games always seem to make more noise, I find. Ico has caught my eye on a few occasions, and only partly because of the pretty box. Let us know how you get on!Balon wrote:Just bought Ico, and except for the strange buzzing noise it makes on my PS2, it's a GREAT game.
Exactally what I was looking for.
Q. Why do Communists drink herbal tea?
A. Because proper tea is theft.

According to gamespot, Okami and Prince of Persia are both similar games.
Okami I know nothing about except that the graphics are supposed to be cool. PoP...has fun platforming and great visuals, but the fights are repetitive and boring.
Also, the team is working on a new game, maybe a sequel to Ico but no real info on that right now. It'll probably rock gaming whether it's a sequel or something new (like SOTC was).

I saw that! Supposed to be on the PS3, so I'll buy it and play on my friends station.
I think the only qualm I have with the game, isnt with the game anyway. I just tend to over complicate things. If your stuck, just look for a box, and you'll probably get it.
About and hour or so in, and I love it. Most of the puzzles are fairly simple, but the game is spiced up with the combination of having to lead around the girl. (who also seems a little...special...when it comes to NOT running exactally where you DONT want her to go)Ico has caught my eye on a few occasions, and only partly because of the pretty box. Yeah...Ico came first, and then Shadows of the Colossus came out a few years later. I was VERY excited about Shadows as I knew it was by the same team that made Ico. I loved Ico at the time, and it is just a beautiful game. Then Shadows came along and blew it away.
Oh, my lordy...I don't want to have to buy a PS3, but I might have to if this team is cranking out another game. I was really hoping to luck out and be able to get another from them on the PS2.
Spoiler
If you've played through Shadows, then I think the end suggests that it is actually a prequel to Ico, storywise. The lady lying on the slab throughout the game turns all shadowy like in Ico, and it seems like someone had horns at the end.

Metal. Gear. Solid. Four.

I'm right there with ya. But my cheapness wont win out. I'll just play it at a friends house. Take three or fours days off of work and beat in a sitting. Yeah, I agree. I like Sony a lot more than the X-box or the Wii. Although the Wii is a close second, I prefer the classic control system. As for the X-box, I dont like most of the people I know that have them, so that sort of puts a block in my head. Although I'm going to get a used 360 soon for Fable 2.Holsety wrote:I did that with several games on the N64 (such as both OoT and Majora's Mask). But I think I will probably just hold out and buy the PS3 late.
Truth be told...I can't explain it but I like sony. Yes, the company itself, all the tech defects and everything and their beating hell out.

Actually, I read on Wikipedia yesterday while researching news of a new game from the folks that the creator said he thought it was a prequel, but wants people to interpret however they wish. It IS Wikipedia though, and not in stone.

I just want to sing the praises of this game again. It's funny...I just saw the movie Reign Over Me (Don Cheadle and Adam Sandler), and I must say that it was definitely one of the best movies I've seen all year. But before I have to move this over into the flicks thread, this game played a minor role in the movie. But it was a stroke of genius, as several things in the movie actually were part of the game as well. I won't ruin anything, but if you've played through Shadows of the Colossus, think of many of the points (as well as the pure loneliness mood) of the game after you see this movie. It was a brilliant choice for the movie, and just a brilliant movie to boot.
