No problem. But it has been brought up before and I just wanted to set the record straight.

Personally, I think that leaving Xar out of the loop on the court forums puts players in the position of victim. I do not feel victimized by Xar in the least and I think it is silly to look at him as the enemy.

Of course we have all cursed his name at one time or another when things didn't go our way. I know I have but, that is part of the beauty of the game.

i'm pretty sure no one has said that they looked on xar as an "enemy."

if that is how everyone is taking my posts then let me just restate for the record.

I DO NOT SEE XAR AS THE ENEMY.

Ha. Yes. The one that topped it for me was when I told Xar that I was considering having Maeror turn darker and eventually split into good and evil halves, and the next turn I met a spirit guarding a powerful relic, who wanted Maeror to become good again, or I couldn't have it, heh. On the other hand, turning good did end a war, give Adomorn a crisis of the faith, and get my prophet a pretty nifty sword.

Xar,

I don't know if you got my txts. And if you did, I don't know if they came through in full. But if they did, I guess they didn't make my position seem less insulting to you. So I'm going to try again.

I strongly disagree with the way you do some aspects of the game. This is not a surprise to you. We exchanged several pm's about it a while ago. At the time, you said you were not angry about my criticisms, but you were angry that I didn't feel I could bring them to you right away.

So what's changed?

Nothing. I still think you should not do (or should do) some of the things you do (or don't do).

And you still disagree with me.

Why is this a problem? It's your game, and I love it! No, not every aspect of it. But who agrees with every aspect of everything they're involved in? I don't see why you should feel personally insulted by the fact that you have not managed to make me happy in all aspects of the game.

As I said in a txt, the word "trust" is wrong. It's not a matter of trust. I have come to know how some parts of the game will go. I'll curse you out for them, but that doesn't seem to help me any. But preventing you from being aware of the things that might hurt me? Damn right I will!! Every single time I can!!

Also, I never got the least, tiniest impression that Balon was consciously trying to keep you from knowing about the site when he started it, or that any of us ever thought "Better keep this from Xar." I know I didn't, and I know nobody ever said it. Frankly, it never occurred to me to tell you about it. It literally never crossed my mind that you should know about it, just as it never crossed my mind that you should know about the Alliance site, or Jove's and Bhakti's site. They are just places where those of us in those groups discuss things.

And sometimes the lines blur here between IC and OOC. Especially on the Comments thread. Even the Game thread at times. And that with the other players and the GM telling everybody to keep it straight! Can you imagine how blurred the line is in these other forums??? It's NEVER strictly IC, and VERY often it's not at all IC.

On a serious note, I am saddened about the line of our discussion here :( :

Xar does put more effort into this game than anyone else. While I might not like a result, I believe Xar has integrity in generating the results

I don't have a problem with private forums ... but if their presence seriously bothers Xar - that in and of itself is enough for me to let him have access.

I think some of the comments have felt too much like attacks on Xar; however individuals have also apologized for any ill will - I believe them when they say it was unintentional.

Xar, some of your comments, fueled by anger I am sure, seem like retaliation for all those associated with a private forum. That feels wrong to me as well.

Normally, at this time, we'd all be exited about the upcoming Turn results, pestering Xar for cryptic hints, and plotting our final moves and the opening of P3. Can't we find our way back to that creativity and excitement that is the Pantheon. A 'court' system obviously requires court dialog. I say give Xar free access. If individual players or groups do other things ... so be it! [A Bhakti & Jove forum ---- AND text messaging!! Fist, you are obsessed my friend!]

Don't I know it!

But I think Deva is right. Let's get back to our normal plotting and planning to destroy each other. Hehe.

In all seriousness though, Xar should be allowed access to the court forums.

I thought we were finished with moves? That only our final gifts are left once we get back results?

I appreciate your comments... you're right, I probably have stepped a bit over the line in the last few comments I've made. So for that, I have to apologize. But as far as I'm concerned, this is a matter of principle as well: and while I also appreciate people assuring me they did not mean to attack me personally, I still can't help but feel that the reasons that have been given as to why I wasn't told of the existence of these forums and why I wasn't allowed in when I found out are criticizing, if not me as a person, at least me as a GM.

This is the third version of the game, and I've loved each one; I'm glad to know some players have stuck through all three of them, and I'm equally glad to see new players coming in each time. But just as much you people enjoy plotting against each other, or chatting in-character in the game thread, the larger part of my enjoyment in the game is to see how the characters interact, and to see what devious plans my players are making. A large part of that already goes on behind the scenes via email and PMs, and I never get to learn about it unless a player volunteers the information... I don't want to miss anything more than what is necessary.

The fun part of the game is not building the turns, however entertaining that may be: it's to see the players take the game to heart and play the interactive aspects.

I'd like to make a public apology to Creator/AK. I misread his post - stupidly so - and became a bit heated in my reply. I should have been more careful and used more tact.

I am sincerly sorry, Creator.

As an outsider, I'd also like to point out that I think it's a bit unfair for any single player to "own" a court forum. After all, what if you quit the court or get kicked out? In that light, Balon's course of action appears to be the proper one. All the more reason to have official, KW-based court forums.

You sure you guys wouldn't rather be neutral? ;)
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

I still like learning how to admin a phpBB based forum, even if my decisions are criticised by those outside of the Sunrise Court. I have yet to hear a cristicism within the Sunrise Court, although I have been awaiting them.

Well the whole idea of the courts was that we could still be neutral and get the benefits of the extra power of a court.
