Gap Video Game?
"How would the fan's feel about a Gap Sequence video game?"
I'll answer first.
depressed.
Although as a MMO it has potential.
As a first person shooter.... just sad.
RP? meh. Would rather re-re-read the books.
stutt

There's no place like 127.0.0.1

1001001 = ASC(73) = "I"

I would not like it.
Although I've always thought that a Elite/Privateer-style game set in the asteroid belt would be nice, with the Amnion andall, but without the principal characters of the book. A side-story.

There'd be absolutely no point in spending money to license Donaldson's material if you build a mere shoot 'em up.
However, there's some potential. There'd be some cool stuff if it was tied to an overarching plotline/mission thingy.
Consider. You play an ore-pirate. You raid miners, run from the cops, save up for a gap drive and matter cannon. Soon, your making deals with the Amnion. They give you tech, you can do more stuff. Soon the UMCP is interested in you as a spy. You do some things for them. Slowly, you uncover a UMC/Amnion plot. Your in a position now to forge an alliance between the pirates, the good cops, independent spacers, to bring down the UMC. At the same time you protect earth from an Amnion invasion.
The you say, screw that, lets play multi-player deathmatch in the asteroid belt.
Could be good.
