The 100 Greatest Rock & Roll Movies of All Time

Post by Cail »

According to Blender Magazine.

Can't disagree with #1 at all. Interesting list.

"Men and women range themselves into three classes or orders of intelligence; you can tell the lowest class by their habit of always talking about persons; the next by the fact that their habit is always to converse about things; the highest by their preference for the discussion of ideas." - Charles Stewart
_____________
"I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations." - James Madison

I'm surprised a couple aren't there, but somehow I guessed #1 early on. Glad I was right. Another mockumentary that should have been there (instead of CB4) would be Fear of a Black Hat. Much superior.

Also, I thought FM might be there, even though it is a pretty forgotten film. I think it inspired WKRP In Cincinatti, though I might be wrong.

Very happy to see Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains on the list. For some reason, that was the first one I thought of when I started reading the list of things I'd like to see on the list.

But because of that there, I felt selfish, and wanted to see the movie Straight To Hell there. It wasn't good for much else other than humor and great music.

Both FM and Straight to Hell surprised me by their absence. I'm shocked that both Tapeheads (one of the funniest movies ever made) and The Ruttles were stuck in the '80s. I'd put both in my top 20, maybe even my top 10. I also find it amazing that neither The Song Remains the Same nor The Wall make an appearance.

Umm...yeah....why no Wall? And furthermore, why didn't that come up in my mind? I lived that movie for several years. Well, not literally...I didn't become a rock god and then turn into a Hitler. I just watched it a lot.

Ah, c'mon Guns. You gotta admit Steve Martin singing Maxwell's Silver Hammer is worth the price of admission.

I'm not a fan of Aerosmith, but I do think they did the best version of "Come Together" in my book.

Dammit, I just realized I didn't see Roadie on that crappy list! I do agree with Spinal Tap being #1, and I have thirteen of the movies on the list, but Eddie & The Cruisers was one of the worst movies ever made, regardless of genre! Honestly, the only good thing about that movie was the soundtrack....wait, WTF? Great Balls Of Fire didn't make the list? What a shitty list!!!

OMG, where's Walk The Line? I get Eddie & The Losers , but not Walk The Line?

Interesting list. A shame only a handful of the movies mentioned have anything to do with the point of the list.
