I feel pretty good. Just went for a long walk with RiverDog. While I was walking, I finalized an awesome idea for a short story I have been mulling recently. I have a new impetus to work on some new stuff. Now if I could just finish "Set Aside, part 3."

Last night our next door neighbour must have decided to get totally plastered and then pass out with his music blaring. I put up with 90 minutes of organ music (ARGH!) and then some rockin'n'roll before deciding at 1am I should go and talk to this idiot. ...which is when I realised he was blotto: I could see him through his window asleep on his couch, and BANGED on the door (which he was sitting near) about 5 times but he just didn't wake up. Called the cops, they came around and even they couldn't wake him up (but the door was open so they walked in, turned off his music and left).

It's just past 8am here. 8.30am and Mr Next Door Neighbour is going to listen to some of MY music!!!!!!!
When we lived in St Louis we used to play "Stereo Wars" with the guys who lived upstairs from us in our apartment complex. I am assuming we won because they moved!

Me? What with one thing and another, it's been a long week. Kind of got te blahs.

I got home last night to find that the dog had gotten behind the computer desk and chewed the power cord to the laptop. So I went this morning to the local apple store to pick up a new one.

Other than that hit to the wallet, I'm doing good. I'll probably take a drive later.

I feel optimistic.

Work is boring as learning new software can be--especially the forty-third time you create a medical release of information--but it pays damn well, so I can't complain too much. I've got the software down cold, and am now spending the next few weeks honing presentation skills so that I can be an effective teacher of said software.

Yesterday I attended a fake-thanksgiving party ( a run-through for next week's large fete) thrown by a work friend and her roommates and friends. It was a colorful crowd, and I had a fabulous time. The host provided a goose and rotisserie ham, and each one of us brought something in the holiday spirit. I brought a Pumpkin Crunch Cake (which was christened Pumpkin Dumpkin Cake-Pie by all in attendance). Perhaps the most interesting thing brought was a very large bottle of nice-ish vodka, which when combined with cranberry juice made for a festive drink--and a very festive atmosphere. I remember drinking two of those, and I lost count of the "just a little more" ones that I had. And one charming but nervous lad kept trying to top me off with more vodka. Heh. . .

But I woke to no ill effects, except being sleepy and wanting to stay in bed. However, that could be due to the thunderstorm happening outside my window!

Anywho, sad to see the old thread go, but happy to have a new and easily navigated one to replace it. Le roi est mort. . .Vive le roi!

I watched Seven Samurai the other day; so I used was inspired to have Kambei as my avatar. Takashi Shimura is a wonderful actor, you should see him, Foul, in Ikiru.

Today I'm wondering why I make the most simplest of tasks so complicated; and wondering why I like to take opportunities I get in life and feck them up by being so slack and blaze' about them.

And I'm wondering what happens when you bargain with Gods and then don't keep your end of the bargain.

Gosh I disappoint myself on the best of occasions. :?

I've spent the last three days searching for my bottle of whiskey that my drunk ass hid right before I passed out wrapped in a blanket in the bathroom. I hid it so well and so drunkenly that I couldn't find it, and stumbled across it today while looking for something else.

I feel happy. I feel ha-

Woke up with a cold this morning, but it's a minor one and doesn't deter from my overall good feeling-ness.

Tired and depressed.

Tired: The girlfriend bought us a present recently. It's called Yourself Fitness for the Playstation 2, and essentially it is like an ever changing exercise video, at least in theory. It targets several different parts of the body, from abs to upper body to lower body to cardio to so on and so forth. It works kind of like a personal trainer, as they set the dates and amount of time for you to do your workout, and you can change them if you want. You can focus on weight loss, or just general health. And if you choose to, you can decide how many calories during the day to consume, and it will set a menu for you during the week, complete with recipes. I've done it twice now, and my body is killing me. Then again, the most exercise I've gotten lately is the occassional Dance Dance Revolution and the walk around the neighborhood now and again. So yeah....I'm tired.

Depressed: Went for my free consultation about the state of my finances, and it's a go on bankrupcy. Never thought I'd be stupid enough to have to do this, but it looks like I am. Honestly, it is some stupidity coupled with some crap luck. I had run up quite a bit of debt once I moved to Colorado, some of it my fault, some of it not. I got a fairly good paying job in 2000, and was rapidly paying my debt off once 9/11 hit. I stuck in there for about a year, and then there was a mass layoff, which is a pity, as if I had one more year there, my debt would have been gone. I had just taken out a loan to pay off my credit cards at a lower interest rate, right at the time I was about to drop it all into the cards. Thankfully I didn't, as that money helped me survive a year of being laid off. Finally something came through for me, but wasn't paying me as much as I had hoped. I survived pretty well for a while, but was somewhat living off of credit cards. It seemed like whenever I was really getting in over my head, something would come along and save me. But for the past...mmmmm...year maybe, I've been living off my credit cards, and now the debt is pretty high. All my take-home pay has been going into bills, and so there isn't much I can do. I've always been one to pay things back, and so this bums me out. I even asked if there was a way to just drop two of the bills and I'd be happy to pay the rest off, but the guy advised me to just drop it all. All I would do would be to make some credit card trust me a bit more, but it won't affect my credit at all to claim some or all, so I might as well just do all I can. It sucks to admit defeat against debt, and I really don't do this lightly, and now I wish I had done this years ago, as I would have recovered by now. I'm starting to be okay with it, but I have a few months to live in absolute poverty while I try to switch from using my cards for anything that is not a bill, to still paying the bills (or at least as much as I can) while trying to live off of the money I can cobble together. It's going to be tight, and of course this is happening around Christmas, so I'm going to be Mr. Cheapskate this Christmas. Very depressing.

Oh, I have seen Ikiru. I knew most of the plot before watching it, and yet it still managed to surprise and move me.

I'm feeling good. I've got free books, free movies and now free Freespace.

I love being cheap. :P

I'm going to start a Kurosawa thread pretty quick. I've got Stray Dog and The Hidden Fortress on order from Netflix. Since I've also seen Ran and recently, Rashomon, it should be enough of his work to start a thread on it. :)

Sea, your avatar vaguely reminds me of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters.

Nooooo....It's Jigglypuff (I guess there is a "puff" in the name, at least due to localization) from Pokemon. One of the coolest characters from the show. Jigglypuff loved to sing, but its song put everyone to sleep (one of its special powers). This would upset Jigglypuff, because it wanted people to hear its song. So it would take the microphone it sang into, flip it around, remove the bottom which had a permanent marker tip (which I've never quite understood if it was actually a magic marker designed to look like a microphone or what), and draw all over the faces of its sleeping audience. Always cracked me up.

Well, found out my sister has thyroid cancer which supposedly has an especially good percentage of treatability. She assures us she will be fine, but it wasn't the result we were hoping for after her thyroidectomy. So radiation treatment now. Poor sis.

But when I got home yesterday, there was something very nice from someone famous around here. Thanks, adopted sistah-twin!
