Naomi Watts?! Mmmmmm.

Nah. Linden is good looking, not blonde and stunning (not to mention, Australian!)

Possibly a very obvious choice (and a little too old for the role), Gillian Anderson would be just right for Linden IMO.

Too old and too curvy. Gillian Anderson would be perfect as Cail's bedmate though.

Well, between 10 and 2 I guess I'll be digging through IMDB for late 20s early 30s female actors...

Not that I don't not do that anyway.

Pah!

"the gratuitous womanliness of her body" ... "the luster of her shoulder-length wheaten hair" ... "the structural beauty of her face" ... "her straight, delicate nose" ... "a mouth formed for something generous" ...

I was sold at "gratuitous womanliness" myself. But there's no denying that she is indeed blonde and stunning by anyone's measure.

I think when asked which one of his female characters was the most attractive SRD replied with Linden as the answer, or something like that.

Which kind of shocked me.
I got more of an impression of beauty from his description of Terisa from Mordant's Need.

But just let me add these words of wisdom "No matter how good looking she is somewhere some guy is sick of her sh#t."

As you can tell, Emotional Leper, the character of Linden Avery tends to inspire lively debate at the Watch. I commend you for bravely jumping in!

I had the impression that Linden was in her early 30's.

At the beginning of TWL, Linden has just finished a family practice residency, which on average are 3 years long. Assuming no time off (straight through college, medical school and residency,) and assuming she graduated from high school at the age of 18, then Linden is about 29 years old at the beginning of 2nd Chronicles, and about 39 years old now.

Thanks, dlb! Yeah, I should've qualified my post: I thought she was in her early 30's at the start of TWL (which is where Wayfriend got those quotes from). So, yes, for all intents and purposes, she is a lovely mature woman to me. And there's nothing wrong with that.

For some reason I figured she was a fair bit older than 30 in the 2nd chronicles, but I never really spent any time thinking about it.

Hell, how old is TC?

IIRC, TC was in his late 20s or early 30s in the first Chrons. I always figured that Linden was about 5 years younger than him.

Casting for Linden

Post by Starkin »

Thank you Danlo for mentioning Naomi Watts! I've ALWAYS pictured her as Linden ever since I saw her performance in "21 Grams", all distraught and harried looking. Of course, she's a druggie in that movie but Linden looks pretty bad during the Sunbane, right?

Heck, I don't even call her Naomi Watts anymore, just Linden Avery. :)

How about this:

I'm going to go down into my car and get out the stick I've been meaning to fashion into a Staff for a long time now. I'll probably need a large quantity of blood for this. Somehow, I always seem to end up needing a large quantity of blood no matter what I do. I'll finish the staff.

I'll need some other ingredients. Copies of TWL, TOT, and WGW. That should do. Probably a pair of ovaries, too -- time to raid the local morgue for spare parts (again.)

I'll also need a victim. Ann Coulter should do nicely. No one would miss her.

I propose, not that we find an actress to play Linden Avery, but that by breaking the Laws of Existance in an act of most Puissant Theurgy that we bring Linden Avery into existance ex nihilo (if you discount Ann Coulter's body, some blood, and a pair of ovaries, 'cause we all know Coulter ain't really female, or even human.)

Of course, I'm going to need a group of people who believe I am the only one capable of this feat, and, oh, yeah. I'll need my heart completely crushed again. I'll get on that.

I agree with the idea of casting Jodie. Definitely OK for Last Chronicles Linden, maybe oldish for 2nd Chronicles, but not much.
