Kudos to Balon for resurrecting this thread...
This year is different in TO than last... We had our first (real) snow about a couple weeks ago. Kinda strange to see snow on the ground when the leaves haven't fallen entirely yet, so the leaves form a multi-coloured blanket atop the snow.
Nice.
Anyhoo, we have about a total of about 10cm here in the last week. It's beginning to look alot like Christmas, everywhere you go.

Alberta Clipper comin' through!
We had a teeny-tiny dusting when I went out to the car this morning. Supposed to have a couple of inches by the time it's all over tonight. DC is doing its usual freak-out ("OMG, there are two flakes of snow dancing in front of my face! It's a blizzard!! WE'RE DOOOOOMED!!!"). Traffic this morning just crawled. I left home early and it still took forever to get to the Metro station, so of course I had to park on the top level of the garage. I'll have to dig out my car when I get back there tonight. Can't wait. Urgh.

50 miles is a long way to ride a bike in the snow.Balon wrote:Time to buy a bike and some snowboarding gear! Thats what I do!Damelon wrote:2 - 4 more inches of snow expected starting this afternoon. This driving home in the snow is already old.

Any jackass can kick down a barn, but it takes a good carpenter to build one.

Denver Breaks Record For Snowfall On Christmas Day
Denver officially recorded 7.8 inches of snow on Christmas Day.

where I live:
Denver shmenver!
Syracuse is known for its snowfall. Boasting 115.6 inches (293.6 cm) on average,[3] the Syracuse metro area receives more snow on average than any other large city in the United States.[4][5] Syracuse continually wins the Golden Snowball Award, among Upstate cities. Its record so far is 192.1 inches (487.9 cm). The high snowfall is a result of the fact that the city receives both lake effect and nor'easter snow. Snow most often falls in small (about 1-3 inches/2-8 cm), almost daily doses, over a period of several days. Larger snowfalls do occur from time-to-time, and even more so in the northern suburbs.
One notable blizzard was the Blizzard of 1993, during which 42.9 inches (109 cm) fell on the city within 48 hours, with 35.6 inches (90.4 cm) falling within the first 24 hours. Syracuse received more snow than any other city in the country during this storm, which shattered a total of eight local records, including the most snow in a single snowstorm.[6] A second notable snowfall was the Blizzard of 1966, with 42.3 inches. Ironically, virtually no snow fell during the Blizzard of 2006, where the Catskills and New York City saw over two feet (60 cm) of snow fall in about one day.

And I believe in you

I will remember you
and what life put you thru.

..I'm sorry..but..what is this .."snow" you all folks talk about ,about this time every year. ? I read that it comes down. It comes down in flakes, that rite? But apparently more than a bad case of dandruff, these flakes outnumber the worries of the world. And you have to shovel these snow flakes? How heavy are they? I mean,, a shovel weighs more than a couple hundred flakes surely. And this scraping, scraping windshields, with a credit card..?? They are still giving people credit? Must be one heck of a snow job to get one of them. Why do people make balls from these flakes and then try to bean each other with them? I don't understand all this. This digging and plowing and slushing nd what not; Is snow a new exercise regime from the local gym? And purple snow and yellow snow..what is that? It must be like a icceee availabe at 7-11. I like the green ones,,a little rum in there makes them just rite. Almost like a Mojito.
Thats a drink down here rite next to Mexico. Sunny Sonora,,which reminds me,,it only got up to 56 degrees today,, so I must go start the fire up in the fire place. Brrrrrrrr!
