WORST Movie(s) of 2007
In order to counter my watchmate Cail's thread... what are your opinions on the WORSt of 2007?
There is ONE movie that comes to mind right away...my wife and I suffered (it was impossible to tear myself away from the cliche-ridden, paint-by-numbers, schlock fest) through...
"Because I Said So" (On Charter on Demand...I did not GO to a theatre at least!)
This movie was so deplorable, so insufferably obvious and asinine, that it may well have shaved 6 weeks off of my life.

Clearly either Happily N'ever After or Are We Done Yet?.

Pathfinder is a tragically misunderstood movie. Those looking for LotR or 300 (my nomination, btw) will be incredibly disappointed. It's more like Louis L'Amour meets The 13th Warrior.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

The worst film of 2007 was, without any shadow of a doubt, The Pursuit of Happiness.
An insufferable amount of time spent watching the same thing (Will Smith getting over in some way) again and again, followed by the poorest example of a pay-off I have ever seen.

I had never heard of Pathfinder when my husband bought it so I had no preconveived idea of what it might be like. I simply found it to be a poorly written, very poorly acted movie.
I don't think it was anything like The 13th Warrior.
And, BTW, Cail, you're right, Happily Never After was pretty bad.

Other than both movies were largely about vikings, maybe. Put an adopted Native American in the place of the Spaniard... er, Muslim. Switch the cannibal types to the Vikings, and...onewyteduck wrote:I don't think it was anything like The 13th Warrior.

...got a flick through Blockbuster this week...
Pirates of Ghost Island
Hands down the worst movie that I have ever watched start to finish. It was absolutely so bad that it held my attention, just for the reason that I wanted to see how much worse that it could get.
And it did not disappoint.
Every time I thought that the movie hit a new low, it proved to me just how wrong I was.
If you have 90 minutes of your life that are worth throwing down the drain, I highly suggest getting this movie.
Pirates of Ghost Island
Sounded good, huh? Like it had possibilities...
“Arizona Producer sets sail with Pirate Horror Franchise”
SURPRISE, ARIZONA – Veteran distribution executive Ted Chalmers has teamed up again with producer, Dave Sterling, to produce the action-horror feature, PIRATES OF GHOST ISLAND. Principle Photography was completed October 2006 in Los Angeles.
GHOST ISLAND tells the story of six Spring Breaking College Kids who end up stranded on a desert island somewhere in the Caribbean. They soon learn that the island is inhabited by a group of real, 17th Century, blood thirsty and murderous pirates. Is it a time warp? Are they immortal? The horrifying answer is revealed as the kids find out that the Pirates are all dead and living under an eternal curse.
The feature film feature a new cast of up and coming actors. The film is directed by special make up effects master, MITCH TOLES who’s credits include MIMIC 2, END OF DAYS and THE REPLACEMENT KILLERS. Toles also serves as Key Make Up Effects and Stunt Coordinator on the film.. “Mitch is a perfect choice for this epic adventure. His love for pirates, history and horror all come into play here. We are excited to have him on this project.” Says producer Dave Sterling. Previously, Toles has worked with Sterling on several projects including BLOOD LEGEND and DARKWORLD for Ted Chalmers. GHOST ISLAND marks Tole’s directorial debut.
Chalmers is a veteran foreign sales agent who has represented such classic horror titles as THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, HELLRAISER, EVIL DEAD 2 and CHILDREN OF THE CORN. As a producer, his credits include the cult favorite from Lions Gate, FAUST: LOVE OF THE DAMNED, and the The Sci Fi Channel movies, ALIEN APOCALYPSE and MAN WITH THE SCREAMING BRAIN, both starring horror icon, Bruce Campbell. Currently he is co-developing HOUSE OF RE-ANIMATOR with Brian Yuzna, Stuart Gordon and Halcyon International (www.halcyonpix.com) to star William H. Macy.
David Sterling is a prolific feature film producer who has made over 40 movies since 1993. His latest feature, ALIEN 3000 is being released by Lions Gate Entertainment this year. Chalmers and Sterling intend to make more horror films over the next 12 months, including sequels and spin offs to DEMONICA. “We have created a whole universe of interesting characters here from which other exciting movie concepts can be derived,” says Chalmers. “These horror films will appeal to a broad audience on a worldwide basis”.
Funds for the project were 100% secured using a Limited Partnership Investment Memorandum created by Movie Plan Software. For more information, please visit www.movieplan.net.
PIRATES OF GHOST ISLAND was recently sold at the American Film Market in Santa Monica, California in November of 2006 to North America, Japan and other parts of Asia...

Which doesn't change that it sucked. Even on purpose.
