Empire is perfect. In my mind there isn't even a close second. :-)

The empire strikes back is one of the best movies ever... I want an ATAT of my own when I grow up to be an emperor! A fourlegged one, mind you...

Forgive me. I should have added a resounding IMHO.

A New Hope was the first and is lauded as such. Great film. Far from perfect.
Jedi is hobbled by Ewoks. Menace suffers from being too rigid and political. The presence of Jar Jar is enough to shove it from the top spot. Though Clones is a spectacular film it is plagued by the two robots. By robots I mean Christiansen and Portman. Their "love" story is portrayed with so little emotion I find it very hard to watch and of course Jar Jar is still there. The final film may topple Empire as the best IMHO but I tend to think it simply can't.

Here is the order so far IMHO

1. Empire
2. Hope
3. Clones
4. Jedi
5. Menace

The Empire Strikes Back is the best SW film IMO. It has a good storyline and very few weak spots.

No Hierachy, I said my comment on Return of The Jedi, because a lot of people insult it because of the Ewoks are said to have ruined it.

Since the Ewoks used up nearly a third of the screen time of the film, I'm guessing that means that nearly one third of Jedi sucked. That is a lot of sucking for the best Star Wars film to date. I thoroughly enjoyed evey moment away from Endor. That is perhaps the greatest tragedy of Jedi. It might have been 100% great instead of a mere 66.4% great. IMHO there isn't a bad moment in Empire so that makes it 100% great which by doing the math seems to paint a rather obvious picture. IMHO of course. :-)

I showed up at ROFJ stoned. When I saw the orc-like guards employed by Jabba the Hut, I thought I was hallucinating. When I saw the Ewoks, I prayed I was hallucinating. I promptly went the next morning and watched the movie again, but it was too late. I stopped doing drugs right then and there. If they used Wookies instead of Ewoks, like originally planned, then that movie would be a close second behind Empire in my mind. As it is, the more these new movies prove how clever and farsighted the Emperor is, and how capable the Stormtroopers are, the worse it makes the Ewok battle in ROTJ look. I loved everything else about that movie, with the exception of Vader's portrayal; he seemed to lose some inner strength. I think that his return to the good side should have him gain inner strength, but it just made him vulnerable to me.

It made him vulnerable to you, eh? So now that he is vulnerable to you and you alone so you can take over the universe. Well good luck there pal. I wouldn't want that job for nuthin.

I think your totally right about Vader there MEGATON dAN, but think about it; Bad guys show strength because they don't generally care about anything, and therefore not vulnerable emotionally. However, Vader return to the light side of the Force showed that he loved Luke, therefore it would of ourse make him vulnerable.

Yeah, but the good guys win. That means they are stronger, surer. I think Vader showed too much doubt, and I think that hurt my opinion of him. I would rather have seen no evidence of his inner turmoil, and been totally surprised when he picked up the emperor and chucked him off the deck.
