Nooooooo! Not And Cub! What a travesty!
Judging by the link to Project Aon, he must be talking about The Lone Wolf, last Kai Lord of Sommerlund. Yes, I'm a fan, and I know there is at least one other around somewhere...was it Theo?
During my early teens, I was heavily into gamebooks, and the greatest of them all, even above the legendary Fighting Fantasy, was Lone Wolf. Also a pretty decent series of spin-off novels.

Yeah. Oh, yeah.CovenantJr wrote:Yes, I'm a fan, and I know there is at least one other around somewhere...was it Theo?![]()

I have an enduring soft spot for the Lone Wolf books since they're what first got me into roleplaying and, really, help solidify my interest in fantasy. And I was actually surprised, when rereading them on Project Aon's site, how well they still hold up. They're damn good.
It came up in this old thread:

Ah, just looking at these old maps again...

The long-awaited Lone Wolf reissues have arrived! They include some rewriting and fine tuning by Mr Dever himself. Flight From The Dark appears to be the most comprehensively reworked - but then it was always the most basic of the books. As I understand it, you now have to light a signal beacon and then escape the seige, rather than simply waking up in the forest. I'm not sure whether that'll be an improvement. Flight From The Dark did always lack depth and involvement, but the reason Lone Wolf survived the massacre was because Zagarna's legions thought all the Kai were inside the monastery. If he battles his way free, then the Darklords' minions know he's out there and descend on his in their hundreds, surely? Well, I'll find out eventually, I suppose.
The reissues, complete with new artwork (apparently it's very good, but for me Gary Chalk's illustrations gave Magnamund its 'feel'), rules clarifications and bonus mini-adventures can be purchased from Mongoose Publishing. Here is the link to the new Flight From The Dark. Sadly, my current financial situation doesn't allow for the expenditure of £10 plus postage per item on books I essentially already own, and certainly not the 'Mega Deal' at a mind-boggling £300.
Still, I will no doubt acquire the new versions at some point, when my wallet is less bare.

First-person Lone Wolf computer game on the way. If they're really doing what they claim they're doing with the Disciplines, it could be very interesting indeed. Have a look at the example of using Sixth Sense in the article I linked above.
