Glad that there might not be a movie

Post by PhatKaoWang »

In a way I am glad that noone is working on the movie at this moment. I was so stoked when LOTR was being made, then I watched them, what a dissapointment!!! I think that the cinematography and acting was great, however, I have read the books numerous times, and did a warm up for the movies, they added things and changed things that I believe were very important to the Story line that JRRT origianally wrote, the differences are glaring, some things not being in the movie are understandable, but adding things that are not in the book, and can't even be implied is unjustifiable. So, I am glad that there might not be a movie!

I'm glad too. There are just too many ways it could be botched. I'm not confident that Hollywood could make this movie and give it the emotional depth that it deserves. LOTR is much more plot-driven, while with Covenant you get actual inner conflict and character flaws. Rape, and by the hero in the first reel. And it's a pivotal event. It can't be written out.

This is a tough one to do well, and movies tend to ruin everything I hold dear in prose form... Okay, so, I'm bitter!

As in other discussions, I suggested that each book be made into a 4 to 8 hour mini series/major epic movie.
Sorta how they made Gettysburg(Turner - I think that was on 2 DVDs)
There is too much in the books to be left out by making a movie. A movie would detract from the splendor and details needed to be understood and enjoyed.

But one must think, jrrt was dead when the movies came out. Srd isn't. Maybe the living will have more say.

Yeah, but he does not possess the movie rights, so his possibilities are rather limited.
