Oh, and uh yeah, they say that Meyer may have done something he shouldn't have. Or something.

It's probably nothing, but they say when he was talking to a recruit at the Heisman ceremony (Carl Moore, already committed at that time) he should not have handed the phone to Tebow, who then made a recruiting-esque statement. Apparently you aren't allowed to call up a recruit and hand off the phone to another recruiter. That and they claim Meyer shouldn't have been talking to / recruiting Carl Moore's gymnast girlfriend since only gymastics coaches are allowed to recruit gymnasts, but then again the GF and Meyer both say he called her because it was the only way to get to Moore, and that the conversations were little more than hi and bye. So who knows what will happen, although UF self-reported on these issues. Probably nothing much.

OK.
I converted to UF from FSU because of what I saw of the diligence and commitment of the Compliance department when I worked across the hall from the Executive offices in the Swamp. Even if Meyer is found to be at fault, if the Compliance department self-reported these issues, my faith is not shaken.

Why LSU dumped Perrilloux
Posted: Saturday May 03, 2008 08:50AM ET
LSU football coach Les Miles tossed troubled junior quarterback Ryan Perrilloux off the team Friday, a move that appeared to be brewing for months but nevertheless leaves the defending national champions without an experienced signal-caller. In recent days, Perrilloux also had failed a drug test, according to sources familiar with the situation. LSU officials, citing privacy concerns, declined to comment on drug testing, and sources close to the football program and within the athletic department were adamant throughout the day the expulsion was not the result of a specific recent event. Perrilloux's longtime attorney, Nathan Fisher, said he had not spoken with Perrilloux for months and had no knowledge of any tests.
As much as I would have liked to seen Perrilloux QB the Tigers this upcoming season, this is something that just had to happen. I am glad that Miles is making this stand and not going to the Miami Hurricanes school of athletic discipline.
What a waste of talent. He prepped here at East St. John High School, which is only about 3 miles from my house. I was caught up in his hype when he was playing there and went to a couple of games just to check him out. He was the real deal. Now he'll just join a list of athletes who had the world to gain, but let it slip away through their fingers.
In remaining opimistic, Perrilloux would have more than likely been gone after this season, and then we would be in the same boat, just another year later down the line...without an experienced starting quarterback. So now the program has just been fast forwarded a year in my opinion. We'll take our lumps this year at the QB position, and be ready to make another serious run at the national championship in 2009.
Working in LSU's favor is that they have 4 relatively easy games before their trip to Auburn, so the Tigers should have at least a chance to get a little battletested under their new quarterback.
Oh...and guess who we open the season with...Appalachian State. I hope Les Miles is showing the team film of the Michigan opener last year...

You know that I am...and we are pre-season ranked at #7. I cannot stand these pre-season rankings, as they have such an effect of where everyone winds up by the end of the season.
And I cannot fathom what is so great about Georgia that they are deserving of a #1 ranking.
I would love to see no polls come out until...say...October 1. By then, everyone should have some kind of idea who the contenders are going to be.
Whew...we open up against Appalachian St. You know Les Miles must have played the tape of the Michigan game probably a multitude of times to the players. Especially with the ties that he has to the Michigan football program.
Geaux Tigers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
