Can we expect the Giants to find their home?

Post by dukehenry »

After reading FR a few times, I have recovered the first chronicles and am in the process of re-reading them. After reading LFB I was caught again by Foamfollower's original mission to Revelstone. (It truly has been years since I read the original chronicles).

Considering the recent "potency" that seems to be coming back to the Giants - will Damelon's prophecy hold true for the Giants?

Duke, welcome to the Watch!

It's an interesting thought that the 'current' Giants might be affected by Damelon's prophecy but I'd guess not. I think that it was fulfilled in TIW.

Still, there may be something in store for them...

I agree.. I wonder what will happen tho the group of Giants in this story.. For all we know, Covenant and Linden may set to sea again to attempt to appease the Worm..

And in writing this i distinctly remeber reading that the ship they bought with thim is hardly Starfare's Gem - more like a fishing boat...

I think what a Giant Considers a fishing boat would be rather large.

The giants in the current story--and the giants in the second Chrons--had never lost their way Home. That was only the Unhomed, the giants who were slaughtered to the last man in the First Chrons.

And I think Donaldson said they weren't going to leave the Land this time (Linden and Covenant that is).

For the umpteenth time ;-) ... He said they weren't going to leave the Universe of the Land, ie no translating back and forth. He said nothing about the Land vs. the rest of the Land's world.

Obviously they'll be screwed if they come back into our universe coz they all seem to have a couple of significant bullet-holes..

It would be interesting if they did go to some of the other places - like the Island of the Giants.. But we'll just have to wait and see..

If I had a choice, I would rather that they journey to the homeland of the Haruchai, rather than Home. the Giants seem to be doing fine, but the Haruchai need some help.

..and find out that the Haruchai deem the Masters unworthy, just as the Ranyhyn for their efforts.

Or something else that provides an avenue for redemption for the Masters.

Those poor Haruchai - everything they attempt they do for good reason, but it always costs them so much.. If they ever realise what the've cost the Land I don't know what they're going to do...

I think it's a bit unrealistic to expect the Giants to find their home. THat was a First Chronicles issue, one that was already fleshed out. THat is, I agree with what's been said in this thread, that the slaughter of the Unhomed WAS the fulfillment of Damelon's prophesy.

A trip to Gianthome would be nice.. but how do you containt Longwrath from skewing Linden.

A trip to the Westrom Mountains would be interesting and to the Land of the Insequents.

Maybe another race would be another card in the desk.

Another time travel event.. Maybe TC as the guide!!
(that would keep Longwrath out of Linden's sights.
Go back to Carroil Wildwood and transport him to Salva Gildenbourne. Make him the Forrestal of that untamed forest. That would make sense.
The Forrestal of Garroting Deep disapeared and was asumed to pass on after TC defeated Foul the first time around. Before the Sunbane. He just gets transposed to the new Forest where beauty has reformed. And Linden answers his question/request.
What's this silver looking ring doing on my finger?

That wasn't an assumption; in the Soothtell, Covenant learned that CW had passed away.

Perhaps they won't be redeemed. How many times can they continue to get it so wrong?
You do not hear, and so you cannot be redeemed.

In the name of their ancient pride and humiliation, they had made commitments with no possible outcome except bereavement.

He knew only that they had never striven to reject the boundaries of themselves.
