School Grants

Post by Waddley »

Can anyone tell me about getting grants for school? A google search doesn't turn up much ofany help (maybe I'm doing it wrong... (that's what she said)) so I turn to my fellow Watchers.

Specifically, I'm looking for a grant(s) that would help me pay living expenses while going full time to a trade school. Should I just go to my local junior college for info there or can the interweb help me?

Anyone?

Well, if you qualify, I know Pell Grants are nice (not sure how hard they are to get now), since you don't have to repay them. Just search for Pell Grants in Google.
What are you looking at?

On it. I didn't remember the name (you know, four letters is pretty tough for me...)

Thanks :)

I don't know about Grants (I don't qualify for any,) but you might check around on fafsa.ed.gov

If you don't have any luck Googling Pell Grants, the guidance counselor at the trade school you are applying to should be able to at least point you in the right direction. and sometimes there are private groups willing to give grants depending on what you're applying to study.
Has anyone seen my keys?

I'm going to be applying at a school called the Euro Institute of Skin Care to become a licensed esthetician. I may or may not have been born to do this, but I'm leaning towards may.

I dig the idea of people paying me money to cause them pain by ripping out their hair.

Have you ever thought about the military. They give you all sorts of money for school. And as a big bonus you get cool uniforms and spiffy hats. The downside is you might get a one way ticket overseas.

Yeah, but then I'd be in the military.

And I doubt that the government wants to pay for me to learn how to make someone's eyebrows pretty ;)

Perhaps you are right. You might have trouble getting grants if you didn't just get out of high school. I remember hearing something about a site that had all of the available grants and stuff. That would be great if I could remember.

Apparently I can get a lone to help with living expenses... with a part time job, I should be ok :)

Thank you Sheol :) (Although, if you think of it, I'll still take a look!!)

Woot! I think you'd be great as an esthetician. How long does you school take?

Full time is 7 months equaling 700 hours- which is anywhere between 400 and 100 more hours than any other school in the area. May have something to do with why they're best.

Only thing is the school is about an hour away, hour and a half in traffic. I'm praying that there will be someone in my class I can carpool with. Three hours of commuting every day will seriously cut in to my part-time job time.
