I didn't realize "Long Run" was their last release containing all new material, but that's what they said on the radio this morning.
Dandelion don't tell no lies
Dandelion will make you wise
Tell me if she laughs or cries
Blow away dandelion

I'm afraid there's no denying
I'm just a dandelion
a fate I don't deserve.

Dunno about this one. I'm a little pissed at the remaining Eagles (primarily Henley and Frey) for their firing of Don Felder.

Me too! Helluva guitarist, Felder.

I'm with Guns - I just don't expect much from this album. That completely crappy song "Hole in the world tonight" just about ruined the Eagles forever for me.

That song very nearly made me place a hole in my head.

Please, Lord, make it stop!
Roach trotted over to sniff at the gleaming phlegm, then licked it up.

It was crappy. I remember they played it when I saw the tour, and I was like, "we waited 20 years for this?".

Ok, so did anyone else actually pick up "Long Road Out Of Eden"?

I kinda like it. I've never been a huge Eagles fan, though I've always liked them. To me, most of their stuff was good, with some occaisonal moments of brilliance. I've heard lots of folks are disappointed with the new album, and I can see why. If you're going into it expecting and album of "Hotel California"s you're going to be disapointed.

Actually the title track is really the only time they try to be epic. But whereas the lyrics on "Hotel" come across as poetic, on "Eden" they just seem preachy. Musically it's a good tune though, with a great guitar solo (presumably Walsh?).

What struck me most about this disc though was how well these guys can sing. Both as individuals and as an ensemble. They're really good performers. The song writing... well, not so hot. Mostly the songs are average, sometimes even cliched. But the performances are great all the way through. Stuff like Frey's "How Long", Walsh's "Guilty of the Crime" and Henely's "Frail Grasp on the Big Picture" are perfect driving-around-with-the-top-down tunes, and Frey and Henley's combined vocals elevates something as pedestrian as "What Do I Do With My Heart" into something special.

So is it epic art? Nah. Is it even particullary original? Nah. Is it fun? Hell, yeah. 8)

I liked the title track and No More Walks In The Wood. Other than that I think it pretty much blew. Eagles no more.......pigeons!

That is, however, simply my opinion.

Those were actually the tracks I liked least  (well, aside from one of the sappy Schmidt ballads... blanking on the name).

I wish I could get my money back. This is easily the worst CD I've bought in a long while. I can't even listen to the good stuff on my Ipod now without thinking how bad the new stuff is. ;)

No Don Felder, no Eagles.

If you figure out a way to that, let me know. Eventually, I know Sound Shop will start taking it so at least I'll get some of my money back. And I agree, it's one of the worst I've bought in a long, long time.
