Elena says so, in TIW.

Well, in "The High Lord" in TIW, when Elena offers the krill as a gift to TC, she says that the study of the second Ward opened doors deep in Revelstone where the krill was found.

She goes on to say: "This is the krill of Loric Vilesilencer son of Damelon son of Berek. With this he slew the guise of moksha Raver, and delivered the Land from the first great peril of the ur-viles."

I'll poke around some more, see if she says anything else about it. But in this section, she clearly does not state that Loric made it, only that it was his.

I sort of feel like I'm splitting hairs a bit on this; I just want to be sure. :)

Huh, fair enough. From Elena's statement, I've always believed that Loric did in fact make the krill, but you're correct that she didn't actually say that.

I don't currently have my books available - but could you check out in TWL when Covenant raises the krill from Glimmermere?

Nice thinkin', dlb!

The krill was indeed made by the Vilesilencer. Here's the quote (from "The Quest" in TWL):

"And Loric, who was Kevin's father, had been called Vilesilencer. He had formed the krill to stem the harm of Vain's ancestors. Perhaps the krill would provide an answer to Vain."

So, SRD did indeed explicitly state that Loric made this tool. I'm glad that's settled.

Now, what might the krill provide an answer to in The Last Chronicles (besides, of course, Linden's insane need for MORE POWER)?

Whew, glad that's settled. ;)

I don't see Linden taking the krill with her after she leaves Andelain. I believe she only needed it to raise Covenant; I don't see her trying to chop at skurj with it.

Yeah, I agree. I don't see Linden taking the krill outside of Andelain to do anything with it either, not after what she did.

For some reason, I'm stuck on the idea of Anele taking the krill, perhaps at the behest of TC. He's so in tune with stone, and the crux of this tool is a stone. I'm just letting this idea marinade in my mind for a while. Maybe my rereads of the first two Chronicles will give me some insight...

Well, she certainly doesn't need the krill to fight the Demondim any longer.

In the Second Cs, the krill was a generally useful item, and Sunder and Hollian made very good use of it.

So Anele and Liand come to mind as possible krill-bearers.

Or maybe a whale enters the story, and will be the Krill-Silencer. *ducks*
