First Chronicles SciFi Bookclub Edition
I don't know if anyone knows or cares, but the SF Bookclub is now offering the First Chronicles in hardback for $20.00. That's the main
reason I signed up for the bookclub myself-- to get hardback copies
of books I like and read a lot.
Now I wonder how long it will be before they do the same thing for the 2nd Chronicles?

Re: First Chronicles
I bought the First Chronicles and Wounded Land from the Sci FI book club back in the mid 80's. Thye are a bit worn out. I'd like to get all 6 if possible.
Covenant Reissue
Thanks for the tip. I looked in my sic-fi book club catalog yesterday, and there it was. I ordered two of them (one to keep and one to sell later when they're not available any longer). I've really worn out my original copies.
JD, you can usually find copies of the 2nd chronicles on EBAY pretty cheap. I have an extra TOT and WGW if you're interested. Don't have an extra TWL.

Hard Books
Although I don't own any of the Chronicles myself, I look forward to investing in the Hard Back books. Being a huge fan of SRD, I know how much others will enjoy owning these books

I have SBBC's original hardback editions of the first five books, I have to say they cheapen the binding so much that they are not even as durable as paperbacks and all have started to fall apart, where I have many older books purchased from the discount bins of various bookstores from the 1960's which are fine

I recently purchased the 1st Chronicles in hardback from the SciFi book club, and am mostly happy with the purchase.
Only mostly because there are a few typos in the book that did not appear in the original editions--I checked .
And I also noticed that the artist rendering on the cover seems to be of TC, but it hardly looks accurate (I count ten fingers!)

I bought both the 1st and 2nd chronicles from SFBC a few weeks ago. They're nice, but I also noticed the typos, and the really really bad art cover (on both books.)

Just found out that the Easton Press made a leatherbound edition of Lord Foul's Bane back in '83. They send it out as part of their "Masters of Fantasy" collection, but said that they would sell just that one book separately if desired. www.eastonpress.com
Here's a link to the book on eBay (which is where I found it). Bidding is a bit too pricy for my blood, so I looked elsewhere (and found out the Easton still had them in stock - I'm sure for much less than the current bidding price). But it shows the cover, and a piece of the inside art.

Here's another web site for digging up old books. They have lots of SRD entries, from around the world.

If you want to see some interesting Donaldson stuff, do an advanced search on Alibris or Abebooks in reverse price.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”
