That's what it was like when I was learning it, except it was a woman and she wasn't allowed to physically hurt us.

Just emotionally.

I do not want to learn any new or old languages. I need to master the one I have.

Plus in about 10 years the US will be second on those countries who are able to speak English.

China will be first.
What's this silver looking ring doing on my finger?

It's not so much positive, as it is distinctly non-negative. :P

No, the reason English will be a second language in this country is because if you move to France, you learn to speak French, if you move to Italy, you learn to speak Italian, and for a long time, if you moved to America, you learned to speak American English, but now apparently some pansy as leftists feel that that's destroying the culture of those who emmigrate (which, you know, sticking stuff in a melting pot kind of does destroy it), so now we have to accommodate everyone. I wonder what Churchill would think. That man knew alot about accommodation.

I sang a song in choir that was latin, but I can only remember a few words.

gloria in ex chelsi dio (spelling?) et intera pax o minibus bonevolunta dis. Lau da mus te, bene dici mus te

Thats it.

Horrible spelling probably, as it's coming from a phonetic memory.

Gloria in excélsis Deo
Et in terra pax homínibus bonae voluntátis.

I googled it, and accidently got a translation, so I'm not going to bother.

Glory to God in the highest.
And on earth peace to men of good will.

According to Wikipedia, it's Old French.

Did you read the link on the Order of the Garter? Fascinating stuff.

Chiming in late, but that particular phrase is indeed the motto of the Order of the Garter, and was featured prominently in a story involving Sir Francis Drake and the Queen Elizabeth of England. :P

Carry on. ;)
