SW Novels

Post by Lord Mhoram »

I really think some of these books are quality science fiction. Especially Timothy Zahn's novels.

Grand Admiral Thrawn is one of my favorite SF characters, but not even he, imo, is better than Gilad Pellaeon--my favorite Star Wars character. I haven't read a book with him in it since Vision of the Future, but I guess he's been in a couple. I've been keeping track of his career, though. LOL

So does anyone else read/have read any of the SW books?

The only book I've read is Alan Dean Foster's "Splinter of the Minds Eye". I thought is was terrific. Of course I read it over 15 years ago.

Well, you know my opinion of Zahn's books. :) But you were more taken with Pallaeon than I was. He was definitely cool, and more than competent. But Thrawn's method of learning his enemy's weakness is brilliant! Heck, just Zahn's conceiving of the method was brilliant!

I haven't been remotely as impressed with any other SW books. I've started a couple that I didn't finish. Not sure exactly what my problem is with SW books. :)

The Jedi Academy trilogy wasn't bad, and had some great moments. Not nearly as good overall as Zahn though. Kevin Anderson wrote them. I think his collaboration with Brian Herbert on the Dune prequels is MUCHMUCH better!!

Yeah, Anderon's books were the only other half-decent SW novels I've ever read. I haven't actually read the New Jedi Order, but thanks to some sites I've seen and sourcebooks I've seen, I pretty much know what's going on...

Sooner or later, these authors are gonna have to run out of ideas for hte Star Wars universe!

There's been MANY mini-series of SW comic books. Some have been extremely good.

It has been a while since I read any of Zahn's books, but I remember that they were good. Other than that I have not read all that many books from SW.

I couldn't agree more. I thought that novel really gave Darth Vader and extra creepy vibe that was terrific. :-)

Tim Zahns book are great, i love Thrawn and Admiral Peollon (sp).

Also the X-Wing Rogue Squadron by Micheal A. Stackpole are very good. But the combat bits do get confusing but good series.

I, Jedia and the new Hand of Thrawn are also very good
