That is a great film. I think it's the first time a German-speaking actor has played Hitler (though he is Austrian).Damelon wrote:I watched yesterday Downfall, a recounting of the last days in Hitler's bunker. Taken from a couple of sources, the recollections of Hitler's secretary and from Albert Speer's memoirs.
As for me, I recently bought Hamlet, the 1996 Kenneth Branagh version.

I'm really impressed with Netflix, we didn't know when we were getting our first DVD, but it came two days after I signed up-along with an email apologizing for the delay!
Amazing! I've never had a company apologize for such a minor detail-that's professionalism! The day after I mailed it back I got my second. I'm a very freaking happy camper!!!!!!!!

August Rush. Family movie (rated PG) about a little boy who is a musical genius and is trying to find his parents. Even though it is a family movie, it is actually enjoyable for adults to watch, too.danlo wrote:

Another good family movie that is fun for adults that I have recently seen is Mr. Magorium and his Wonder Emporium. That one was a G, and even though your daughter is young, she might love the scenes set in the magical toy store.

And a beautiful little movie that your wife might love (my friends and I all did) is called Miss Potter, a charming little movie about the children's author.

Finally got around to watching the First Blood DVD I picked up a few weeks ago.....
What a great film.
What a great film.

Got The Minority Report and Children of Men for $5 each at Best Buy.
Also picked up The Mist and the criminally underrated Tears of the Sun.

Fishing through the bargain dvd bin at Wal mart last night and both Elektra and Catwoman were available for 5 bucks each. I could easily have afforded to buy them but they still aren't worth the price. Maybe if I find them for $0.25 a piece at a yard sale. On the other hand I'd be out fifty cents...nevermind.

They have a good representation of documentaries as well. While it is considered a documentary, it's a bit fictional. Put "Fishing With John" in your queue. It is John Lurie who I've never been a fan of (after movies like "Down By Law"), but he has a bunch of the hipper guests like Jim Jarmusch and Tom Waits and Willem Dafoe. And basically they go fishing. But due to the way it is done, it is especially entertaining. The announcer is hilarious, and is very fictional at times. The episode with Willem Dafoe is my favorite, despite not being much of a fan of his either.danlo wrote:I'm really impressed with Netflix, we didn't know when we were getting our first DVD, but it came two days after I signed up-along with an email apologizing for the delay!Amazing!
