Yeah, to each his own. I'd say the T1000 effects look horribly dated now, but that's just me.

Yeah, I enjoyed T3 when it wrapped up, as I thought they'd keep finding a way to keep the "future" from happening. Surprised to see how that one ended. But mainly, I just wanted to see the sequel. And want it to be good.
And on the Aliens line that is running parallel to this topic, I really dug Aliens 4 as it was directed by Jeunet who did Delicatessen and City of Lost Children. His wonderful touches were throughout it, even though the script was a little bland. And who can't love Brad Dourif's scientist sexually aroused by the aliens?

I loved T3. Everything added up to the final moment. Damnit, that's how a movie should end. The same kind of moment that was (nearly) the only good thing in the Chronicles of Riddick movie, a moment that you might have seen coming from miles away (if you were paying attention), and yet when it happens it still gives you chills to realize you were there when it happened, you saw it unfold.
I agree with Cail to a small extent on T2. The pacing is bad. It's too long. And that boy is so whiny. He gives Anakin-as-a-kid a run for his money in that category. It's a little too cute, a little too sanitized. It completely lost the sense of danger which was ever-present in the first movie, until the very end battle in the steel factory (where else?). However, it was emotional, ground-breaking, and certainly an expansion of the original concept. You can't ask for much more in sequel. Much too often, sequels end up being less than what went before. T2 was certainly not less--though I do wish they'd trimmed a bit.
On the other hand, T3 had no fat to trim. That shit was tight.

T3 has a similar feel as the first film. The never-ending exposition was part of what killed T2 for me. In the first film you found out everything you needed to know while Reese was hotwiring a car or reloading. In T2, everything comes to a screeching halt while Sarah rants on and on and on, and to top it off, the really cool bad guy completely disappears from the movie for 45 minutes.Malik23 wrote:On the other hand, T3 had no fat to trim. Much as I really enjoy 80% of T2, I'd pretty much agree. The film has a great pace up to the point where they escape into the desert, then it becomes seriously boring for at least 20 minutes.Cail wrote: The never-ending exposition was part of what killed T2 for me. My other problem with T2 was that it did too much of what T1 one did, especially in terms of some of the set-piece scenes. Don't get me wrong, I really like T2, but T1 is the masterpiece of the series.
Never watched more than five minutes of T3. The little I saw struck me as lame. I could very well be wrong, but I have basically 0 interest in finding out.

For me T2 suffered from too much action. I found it a lot of fun the first time, and felt pretty beat up from it by the end of the picture, but on second viewing, I was already bored.
The beginning of T3 felt pretty old hat, only with a pretty face this time, and I just felt like, okay, I'll watch it, but I feel like I'm watching T2 again. Then the end came and I woke up a bit and sat up and went, "wow...I didn't think they'd go there."
T4 is sounding a bit more interesting, but still....will just have to see.

I actually like T3 alot. I liked it actually better on the whole than T2. but the first is still the best of the lot.
However, I am looking forward to what comes next...
