Too much? Nahh......

Post by Cail »

So I'm making my daily rounds, and I find this.....Stallone prepping Cliffhanger 2?.

Now then.

I enjoyed Rocky Balboa a lot. I thought Rambo was fantastic, and probably deserves Sly an Oscar nomination for either writing or directing. Hell, I really enjoyed the first Cliffhanger 15 years ago. I enjoyed it enough to buy the LaserDisc.

But 62 year old Sly making a sequel? I dunno. One could argue, quite reasonably, that there were deep characters and themes in both the Rocky Balboa and John Rambo films. But does anyone really use Gabe Walker as an archetype?

Don't get me wrong, Stallone's on a roll, and based on that, I'll go see anything he does now (with the possible exception of Judge Dredd 2). But was Cliffhanger really begging for a sequel?

I recently tried to re-watch Cliffhanger (I only saw it once, way back when) and I was bored after 20 minutes. I think Sly may be going to the well too many times with this one....

The problem is, even a bad Rocky or Rambo is kinda fun. (Rocky 4 is a hoot)

Cliffhanger is just kinda boring.

Cliffhanger is a solid action movie (the sequence with the hijack on the plane easily being the film's highlight) but . . . a sequel? That's ridiculous. What's he gonna do next? Demolition Man 2? Cobra 2?!!

What? 8O I loved "Rocky Balboa," I thought it a fitting end to the series. In fact, I only acknowledge 3 of the Rocky movies, "Rocky," "Rocky II" and "Balboa." ;)

III and IV are great fun, but yeah, they're not nearly as good as I, II, and VI.

The less said about V the better.

Nope. You're wrong. Wrong as wrong can be. Hell, I don't even know why I'm responding to you...
