How your own attitudes have changed over the years

Post by High Lord Tolkien »

You know, years ago I would have mocked this picture with total abandonment using words that would have probably gotten me banned.

But now......

I think this is the coolest damn thing.
The only thing that would make this picture better was if I found out he was also wearing slippers.

It should have been a martini

What I wanna know is how someone can go from looking like this...

Image

To this...

Image

I remember seeing a clip of Robert Fripp rocking out to some of his newer stuff (which sounds *really* contemporary) wearing slacks with suspenders up around his nipples.

LOL It's probably from all the booze and drugs. Most of the old rock gods haven't aged well. Especially Plant.

Daltrey, I think, has aged the best out of all the British Rock Gods.

I dunno, given the life they've led, I can't really harsh on guys like Plant or Gilmour. They're both in their '60s after all.

Wow. . . thanks for the clarification, Luci! Who knew. . . :D

And Daltrey has aged quite well. . .

I think Gilmour looks good for his age. I'd trade bodies with him right now if playing guitar like he does came with the deal. Plant, on the other hand, looks pretty damn rough. I think the biggest sign that Plant is too old is the recent collaboration he did with Alison Krauss.

I think that's just a really bad pic. I've got his DVD for the Royal Albert concert and also "Pulse" on DVD and trust me, he doesn't really look that bad.

(Hmmmm - maybe I need to make a post in the "Mancrush" thread.)

i'm with dlb. i'd take gilmour with or without the playing ability.
and i find him HOT NOW. he always was hot and he still is.
daltrey has never done one single thing for me and incidentally,
i'd MUCH rather hear pete sing his own songs than daltry.
i love me some thrashmastah!!!

i guess i go for geezers!!

hmm....I think I could have titled this thread a little better.
I wasn't asking for celebrities who looked good or bad for their age.

But for examples of how your own attitudes have changed over the years as you get older.

I'll rename it now to better fit.

Funny you brought this up HLT. I was considering starting a similar thread myself.

In a little less than 5 months, I'll be turning 40. I don't feel old. I don't think I look old. But boy have I changed.

It occurred to me that I've mellowed quite a bit, and that I lead a gentler life now than I used to.

I've quit drinking and smoking, become a vegetarian, exercise regularly, go to church regularly, become quite the outdoorsy type, give a crap about the environment (traded in the pick'emup for a freakin' Subaru wagon), and have changed my politics again (was a Democrat, then a Republican, now a Libertarian).

An exciting Saturday night for me is hanging out with Cailette, and I'm usually in bed by 9:30 on weeknights.

And I honestly couldn't be happier about it.

My post about ear hair makes no sense now. I liked "You know you're getting old when..." much better.

no really. my monitor is showing apricot, not pink.
No way, it's Dusty Rose for sure.

Anyway, Plant is hot, and Daltrey is hotter. But i guess that actually shows how old I am!!! Aghh!!! 8O
Cail. people still thought I was in my 20's until I hit 42. I think it was the death of someone very close to me that made me turn the corner. Oh well. That's part of getting older too.
