One more, though he doesn't actually appear except via a story...

That's from tPtP, and IIRC the Stonedownor was Triock. That was the Unfettered One who had the wraiths with him, and was trying to learn how to read the rock.
That's the one I meant.

I always felt bad for Marid.

He probebly wasn't a bad guy...just in the wrong place at the the wrong time.

But even the Raver-Infected Marid played a very important roll...I liked his showdown with TC in TWL...and, well, if it wasn't for him, the 2nd chrons would have turned out a lot different.

Lena's father..

A tragic figure. But it wasn't told who he really was.

You guys reminded me of a bunch of characters who had drifted from my mind... yeah, I *heart* Nom... and I also agree about good call on Memla. (I was actually surprised that she died off so soon.)
"People without hope not only don't write novels, but what is more to the point, they don't read them.
They don't take long looks at anything, because they lack the courage.
The way to despair is to refuse to have any kind of experience, and the novel, of course, is a way to have experience."
-Flannery O'Connor

Yes, Memla's character touched me - an honourable person caught in a corrupt system who rose to the occasion when Covenant's company needed aid. Her death was so heroic and so tragic. Powerful stuff from Donaldson.

The Griffins were definately bit-parts.. lol.. As are - seemingly the Fire Lions..

But i definately liked Quaan - "sure I'll just run off with a pitiful army right into the massed force of Lord Foul's Minions! It'll be a laugh!"

And Hamako

Hyrim, son of Hoole !!

agree that the Tull momentarily losing his cool was a powerful moment too ..

Tohrm and Pietten were excellent.

I also loved Prothall's dignity, Birinair's bluster and Verement's bitterness ..

One I forgot, but one who also rivets my attention everytime I read his passages and makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up everytime he appears:
Caerroil Wildwood.

"Speak again and I will break your arm!" Probably the best line in the whole of LFB. I've never wanted to say "right on" to a character in a story more.

Some of the people y'all are mentioning are not characters that I would have considered "bit players." ;)

Just saying. :)

Bran -

Wildwood - yes. The Forestals are such an important part of the Land and yet we know next to nothing about them apart from some rather ephemeral hints in the Raver history.

In no particular order...

Amok
Dhukka Waynhim
Morinmoss Healer
Hamako
Nom
Hyrim
Shetra
Hoerkin
Korik
Runnik and Tull
Kinslaughterer in Giant form

The chapters detailing the Quest for Seareach are at the top of my list of favorite passages. So evil, so malign, such calculated torment...hence so many of the characters from that story in my list.

The Country Singer was Suzy Thurston. I think the guy mistook for Covenant was her first manager.
