I think variol comes across as a very bit player.
But he produced one hell of a son.
And Tamarantha. I love that old broad.
No creator -- hush. you are too young.
Kevin was oracle but not prophet. You don't have that kind of courage yet. Lesser minds lose the distinction.
She knew A LOT.

Well, what can I say...dlbpharmd wrote:That was Tull, good call there.Alan wrote:The Bloodguard who broke down on the Watch. (Tull/Runnick?) I found that quite shocking...
But yeah, clearly, Tull is one of my favorite characters. I mean, the Bloodguard who showed emotion. That's huge.
Nom was pretty cool. Especially once Covenant bested him.
Gibbon Raver? I think that's his name... Leader of the Clave. I don't know if you'd consider him a bit player. He wasn't actually IN the books a lot, but he played a pretty major role.
Trell.. Atairan-mate. He was like Sunder in importance of Mitril Stonedown.amanibhavam wrote:Ur Dead wrote:Lena's father..
A tragic figure. But it wasn't told who he really was.
Hm? What do you mean?
The heart of the lore for the village. He fell into despair because of what happened to his daughter and his wife. He plays a small but important role which allows Morham to achieve victory.
But we do not know who he really is. He is an important but bit player in the 1st Chonicles. We know more about Triock than we know about Trell.
He could have been a village elder but SRD never developed him. We could have had more insight about the stone lore and masters of that lore if he was developed by the author.
What's this silver looking ring doing on my finger?

Well, in this case, I can see both sides... we got to see who he began as (a little of it; still, he was in some ways overpowered by Atiaran in those scenes), and we got to see they obvious external "why" of how he became who he did... but not so much of what was really happening... because he was so silent and inwardly-turned.Seppi2112 wrote:Trell?? So even though I'm pretty sure we SEE more "scenes" involving him than Triock total, he doesn't really show his heart visibly.
Btw, nobody mentioned Rue? (Cord Rue / Manethrall Rue) I don't remember her very well by now, but... is this because y'all forgot about her or because nobody likes her?

Oh yeah, and props on Variol & Tamarantha... they were awesome. I'm pretty sure that's a rather large reason for why Mhoram is who he is. (I need to go back and re-read LFB... I got through that whole book being rather un-clued in on much of what was going on in deeper levels...)

Do you mean Winhome Gay?
Who walked away with a sway in her hips as if she had DARED defy the Ringthan? Who became Cord Gay, then Manethrall Gay? Who heeded the call of the Lords because she remembered the tale of Manethrall Lithe?
Who then saw a horrific sight, saw all her Cords chopped away one by one by Fleshharrower's Army, and she became Manethrall Rue?
Never heard of her.

Exactly. Can he cook? Does he prefer death metal to Britney Spears? Did he ever have a wife called Lady Wicked?matrixman wrote:Re: Trell - to me, there's a difference between "we don't know much about him" and "he is a bit player." He's a major player in my eyes.
After all, how much do we really know about Lord Foul? Even after two (and a half) Chronicles?
All nagging questions...

I guess LF would not prefer Britney but may well use her as a special torture in case he's used all of his Ravers and croyel.

Nassic. He was the ONLY one who wholeheartedly believed and spent his life perserving the memory of Thomas Covenant. Imagine what would have happened, or more accurately, NOT happened, had Nassic not been there, if he had been killed before TC and LA arrived, whatever. Nassic is a major player. Only Sunder knew of TC and he had little belief, poisoned by the "new" legends.
Heard my ears aright? Did not the gaddhi grant me this glaive?

Right! I *knew* there was stuff I'd forgotten about her... even, I'd say, quite important stuff.SGuilfoyle1966 wrote:I was thinking about her, actually.

Never heard of her.
Also, I remember another of my favorite ones is the leprous woman Covenant tells the story of... the one who just kept dancing and making friends and ignoring her leprosy, until "practically nothing was left of her but a smile"... (someone didn't absorb her indoctrination as she was "supposed to")
