Me too. My moves were a mere 490 words.Tawhiri-matea wrote:I'm with Murrin. When it comes to the turns, I tend to write it more like a strategy submission than a story, unless there is specific back story that needs explaining.Murrin wrote:I usually write enough so that my intention with the order is clear (occasionally extending it to specifically rule out any possible twists I can think of that Xar might throw at me), and give it only the barest dressing of story. When I can think of a way to do it better, I do, but most of my orders don't need it/I can't think of anything intersting for.
All my prose goes to the game thread.

(What's with this sudden worry about the content of contest entries btw? They're stories. And most of us are here because of a series of books that has a rapist as the main character...if people are distressed by them, they gotta lighten up, really.)

EDIT: If people aren't familiar with violent and sexual situations by the time they are 12 then there is something wrong. Hello? Any movie out right now, Law and Order SVU, Donaldson, Video Games(insert a title here). That's just my opinion.

I agree. However, after personal experiences of being labelled a pervert, pornographer, and sexual sadist on a Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay site, after merely saying that I think roleplay adventures can benefit from darker sexual themes (WFRP is a very dark game, after all; and none of these people had ever met me or even been in the RP adventures I alluded to), I've become aware that some take extreme umbrage at even the slightest detail involving sex and violence. That said, I think what I've done thus far is very tame for the entry, though infanticide is a fairly constant part of the piece, in one way or another.Cameraman Jenn wrote:EDIT: If people aren't familiar with violent and sexual situations by the time they are 12 then there is something wrong. This is also a site where some quite young folks visit, so I wanted to give some warning, even though I think a spoiler tag over my entry will dispel its mood.

I guess Nor won't be a butterfly after all!!Nor Yekith wrote:Dogma: Existence can be defined as the struggle between the master's will to create order and the slaves' will to resist order. The slaves lack imagination and brilliance to understand or appreciate order, and most masters are likewise lacking. It then becomes apparent that the will to establish a suitable and perfect order is limited to a few. Nor Yekith possesses the power and the dream to make a utopia.
The slaves will no longer resist order, for what will they have will be removed.

Aye well, as you already know, I liked it.Dorian wrote:Entry up. short and sweet. found it hard to think of something good to post up. been a busy week
I managed to spare some time to knock-up my own entry. For better or worse, I decided not to spoiler tag it, as I've given warning here for nearly a day before, anyway. I don't think it's gratuitous, in fact, I think it's rather subdued.
Anyway - I went for ambiguity in my eschatology entry. I wonder if people will be able to spot just exactly what the end is. It may look obvious but, if you think so, you're probably not looking hard enough.

Enjoy!

Yeah, spoiler tags unneccessary...we're really not that uptight here usually, and if we're not all "adults," (which all players effectively are I think), then we're "adult" enough to be here, so lets have no more of this undue worry. If it's really[/] bad, sure, give a warning and let it stand at that.
Now...who's turn is it to badger Xar for quick turn processing? (Although, with what some of you have admitted to submitting in terms of word counts, I suddenly feel even more sympathetic to him...
)
On with the game!

LOL. So much for that. Just a compromise between Av, Xar, and myself pre-game that avoided the whole 'off-site forum discussion' since neither of us wanted to be in courts.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

I agree with Creator, Nor Yekith's new dogma is awesome. Suits him perfectly. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.
Dorian and Montresor, superb contest entries, both of you.
Heh. I remember Xar saying the Pan_Eclipse forum was for planning and archiving purposes, and that no one was to try and join it. Interesting move on your and Av's part, Syl.
As far as warnings on stories, IIRC it wasn't so much violence or infanticide described quickly that was protested, but the drawn out description of the torture of children that stirred protests. I had no problem with it, and the piece well deserved the recognition it earned, but it is what I remember being protested.

Since it seems needed... as Syl already said, we have a small additional user group which was established before P3 began; originally it was meant for archiving purposes, but shortly before the game opened I decided to invite some of the neutral deities in there. Being neutral, they can supposedly be objective when it comes to Courts, and so if I have an idea I'd like to test in the game ruleswise, or if I missed something important, or if they think something supposedly neutral I've done actually favors Sunrise or Sunset, they can tell me and offer advice.Menolly wrote:Heh. There are other reasons why I decided to allow a few players to join that group, too - one of them being I don't want another repeat of what happened last time when people confused out-of-game with in-game information, so this way I might be informed if something like that seems to be happening again.
I was hoping to avoid revealing all that, also in order not to be considered "partial" to some players, but since the whole thing showed up again...
