Balon, how old is that version of the rules you quoted? Xar updated them on Saturday; he's up to version 3.08. Here is the current rules regarding Houses.
Houses

The five divine Houses are linked with elements: Fire, Air, Earth, Water and Aether. Each domain is associated with one House; the Major domain taken by a god indicates which House the god belongs to. Differently from Courts, the god cannot choose his House except by choosing an appropriate domain.
Gods who belong to a single House strengthen or weaken each other according to the rising or falling of their fortunes: even if the gods belong to two different Courts, a Sunrise Fire god who grows in power will strengthen a Sunset Fire god too. Therefore it is possible that, if many gods from a specific House were to lose power, all the gods would be significantly reduced in power. But it is also possible that if a single deity from a specific House were to gain a large amount of power, all the other deities of his or her House would enjoy smaller but significant benefits as well.
There is no longer any mention of not being able to choose a domain from an opposite House. Even though the rules were last updated this past Saturday, the PM I received back from Xar was dated the 16th. So, it was changed prior to that, I assume.

I got my quote from the registration thread where the list of domains is. That's how I find what house is for minor domains for my spreadsheet. I assumed that both threads would be updated.

WHOOPS. :P

Just to say, though she may be around tonight, Brid will be out of touch (dare I say, untouchable  ), until Sunday or Monday.

Now she's divine rank 4, she's decided to go home and kick some arse (well, check out a few bands, anyway!)

Xar, you rock. :D Of course, it won't make us less edgy when times start increasing, but I just gotta say how fantastic it is to have such a quick turn-around. Thanks. :D

About the domains discussion... the phrase Balon refers to speaks of "fire and water" as domains, not as Houses. The rules say that the House only matters for your Major domain, not for your minor ones; the rules further state that you cannot take opposing domains, not domains belonging to opposing Houses. So you can't be a god of darkness AND light, you can't be a god of Fire AND Water, you can't be a god of Earth AND Sky, you can't be a god of Death AND Life, and so on. It has nothing to do with Houses. What it is basically saying is that if, say, Etzlicoatl were the god of Fire, he could not take on the minor domain of Water. But he could still take on any other domain belonging to the Water House.

EDIT: I've split all the stories and writings from the Game Thread into their own thread. From now on, the Game Thread is reserved for inter-deity banter (or inter-Prophet banter if your deity isn't particularly sociable ;) ), but stories, tales, diary extracts and so on should go into the Stories and Writings thread, so it's easier to reference them. Thanks :D

Ahhhhh... okay I see where I misread now. Thanks for the clarification, Xar! And thanks for the story thread as well!

Any chance of the artifact rules being changed? I thought of another simpler idea. Minor and Major artifacts, the same as last time, but Minor are created only by expenditure, while Major are created with Sacrifice on top of expenditure.

I think that'd make it easier to make at least some little cool things without killing your long term game plans.

It's actually quite funny from my point of view ;) I get to see you all scramble into positions for your various plans, and see what chance throws your way. And there are lots of hidden gems in your turns ;)

Does anybody know anything about Dagon? He did not submit his turn, and though he is unable to access the forum at this time, I'd like to know whether he wants me to put him on hold, or if he wants to play, or wants to be removed from the game...

Balon, I know you can talk with him by phone. Can you call and check on it?

If he drops, do we auction his followers off? ;)
