SRD on the BBC???
Did anybody spot the Chronicles reference on the BBC?
What we have is a spin-off from Dr Who called "Torchwood" aired the other day on BBC2.
In this episode one of the Torchwood agents is brought back from the dead by the (rather obviously, I would have thought) injudicious use of an alien artifact.
But something comes back with him...
A nasty thing (some kind of manifestation of Death)which made his eyes turn black and spoke with a creepy voice in a strange language - you can see where this is going, can't you...
Yep - you got it - "Melenkurion Abatha. Duroc Minis Mill Khabaal"

There are already a couple of threads about this.

Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....

When the trailers came out, it said nothing about Dr. Who or anything, and it looked like a typical poorly done US show and I instantly dismissded it as Crap.
Incidentally, Why does Stephen Donaldson put an R in between the S and the D sometimes? Surely he should do it all the time or never... I've only seen one publised book available in a bookstore with the 'R' in it.. and thousands just with Stephen Donaldson..

Yeah, but back to Torchwood. It's a Doctor Who spinoff (and, tiresomely to those who already know, well, do the anagram thing) and is made by the BBC. The basic idea is that Queen Victoria (1819-1901) after meeting the Doctor decreed that an institute be set up to defend her Empire from aliens. Torchwood has featured extensively in the last few series of Dr Who and very rarely has it been seen as positive.
In typical heavy-handed BBC style a recent episode kind of posed the question is it morally right to torture an alien in order to protect the world? But then again the first series saw the team in pursuit of an alien who fed on orgasms.
Oh - and it's filmed in Cardiff. (Wales - I've got a map somewhere - I think it's, you know, off to the left)
But it's FUN!
Lighten up a wee bit guys - there's more to life than Ravers.
At least watch Torchwood for the awesome gap between Gwen's front teeth. I know - unkind - bit it distracts me every time.
