Lost: Via Domus
Just ran across this at the BestBuy store. Didn't even know it was coming out. A new game based on the Lost TV show. Awesome graphx and they have the characters mannorisms down pretty well. Nice to just sit on the beach near the wreck and watch the waves and sunset. I have a gaming system and it still took a half hour to install; that's a record. I have the PC version, and it's not a standard FP shooter, so some of the dialog buttons can be cumbersome, still I am having a good time with this one and listening to the great music and sounds from the show.

Cowboy: Why you doin' this, Doc?
Doc Holliday: Because Wyatt Earp is my friend.
Cowboy: Friend? Hell, I got lots of friends.
Doc Holliday: ... I don't.

I've only gotten through episode 1 of it. Love how they do that. But I just got it yesterday and played for about 45 minutes or so. I hope to spend time with it in 30 minutes when I go home from work. So far, pretty clunky and a bit of a letdown, but usually Lost takes a couple episodes to get going each season, so I'm just going to keep plodding on through it. I'm just hoping it will illuminate things on the show a bit. Probably not, but I'm excited to get further. All the reviews I read of it were pretty damn positive.

Life is a waste of time
Time is a waste of life
So get wasted all of the time
And you'll have the time of your life

This may not be an option for you, since your computer is old, but if you have a PCIe x 16 slot, you can spend less than $250 on the Geforce 8800 gt card. It runs the game beautifully.Wyldewode wrote:My computer is so damn old that I can't consider buying this. Maybe when we get our stimulus payment I can buy a new compy.. . and a new game too.
But I played the game for 30 minutes and got bored. Haven't touched it since. But I'm pretty much a 1st person shooter.
If you don't have a PCIe slot, there is no need to spend more than $500 to get a new computer which has one. I spend $500 on my Dell 5150, and that was two years ago (Pentium 4 3.0 gHz processor). You ought to be able to get one even better--which a multi-core processor--for about the same price now. Maybe less.
[Edit: I just checked, that card is now going for $190 online. A real bargain.]
