Tape of SRD reading Arghule chapter of WGW

Post by Endymion9 »

Don't remember the exact chapter, but did anyone else ever listen to the Audio tape of SRD reading from WGW. Got it thru Science Fiction Book Club way back around 83/84 IIRC. Alas, the cassette tape did not survive through the years and back then I don't believe I had seen any full books on audio. So was very happy to have this little nugget.

I think it cost me about 12 bucks back then for the one chapter and remember thinking, I could never afford an entire audiobook <grin>.

I'm pretty sure that there's a thread on this subject somewhere deep in the archives-I'll try to dig for it. Many of the same subjects arise every year or every two years.

haha..i asked Stephen R Donaldson if he would ever consider reading his own books to audio books. and told him I recorded the books as i read them also inserting Gilden fire as part 2 into the Illearth war. and he said this...

forgive me for saying so but you have way too much time on your hands <Grin>

"No, I have never (and I do mean NEVER) "considered narrating unabridged versions of the first six Covenant books" myself. And I wouldn't do it at gun-point. Life is too short, and I have too many other things to do--including too many other books to write."

and it sounded like he has no control over the book rights at all... as far as creating audio books from the TC chronicles.

it really only took as much time to make the audio book for myself as it did to read the set of books.now i can listen to them on long trips..like the one i just went on to Tahoe...one time readthrough and not too bad eather..I got alot better as i went along...its a way better option than Computer speech anyway if you want an audio book you cant find anywhere.

so it sounds like that piece you have there is about all we will ever hear of him reading it anyway

I just wish I still had it and could transfer it to a more permanent medium like CD.
