Covenant's eye colour

Post by mystmaiden »

Hi all, I'm back yet again, as time has rolled around for my yearly read through the Chronicles. I have a question , hopefully, someone here will know the answer. Are we ever told in any of the books what colour are Covenant's eyes? I always think of them as 'grey' but I'm thinking I just got that from , "grey, gaunt man"

I believe, if I recall correctly, that they are described as grey. But I could be wrong...

some of the descriptions vary a bit, but I believe that they all insinuate some shade of grey
Has anyone seen my keys?

on page 79 pg of TIW;

". . . she [Elena] resembled someone he had once known. This impression was both heightened and denied by her eyes. They were grey like his own."

That would seem to settle the question. :)

The grey of a cloudy morning, or perhaps gunmetal grey. Isn't silvery grey just silver? Wouldn't it be handy if all color descriptions could reference the Crayola standard, to give us a better idea of what color they meant?

As an aside, my eyes are blue mixed with grey - so you apparently get the Civil War when you look at me.

But they are universals.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Yes, but what you call blue, some cultures call green. What you call orange, some call red.

Etc.

That's why the Crayola standard should be forced upon everyone, like a Tranquil Hegemony of color names...
